Commercial Description:
This dark, rich ale is based on the combination of eight different malts and cereals. This yields a complex malt profile with some sweetness, balanced by American hops, which also provides the ale with a citrussy aroma. Can be enjoyed on a cold day by itself or with grilled meat and hearty stews. Ølfabrikken Brown Ale is, of course, unpasteurized, unfiltered and bottle conditioned like all of our beers.

Bottle. Very cloudy dark brown with a creamy head. Light cardboard, toasted and caramel malt aroma with some hints of vanilla and smoke. Quite toasty in flavor. Mild chocolate and roast flavors also. Rather watery in body. Dry for the style(which I like). Muted hop character. Finishes fast. Overall, quite nice.

Dark brown and unclear. Has a lasting, off-white head. Nice yeasty aroma, microbrewed. Flavor is a bit sour and malty. Nice ale.

50 cL bottle. Pours dark brown with huge light brown head. Flouver and malt aroma. Creamy texture with sweet malt taste and cascade hops freshening up the caramelly malt taste. Bitter hoppy finish.

Bottle: 50 cl. Unclear dark brown (reddish) with a dense foam that is stable for quite a while. The aroma is medium malted: caramel, roasted, and hopped: citruslike with flowery notes. The palate is medium-full with fine carbonation. The flavor has a complex malt structure with flavors of oats, chocolate, nuts and caramel.

Bottle:

Very malty and hopped aroma with notes of caramel, liqourice and caraway seeds. Actually this smells a bit like my grandparents wood pill fire, but it’s of course only me that know exactly what I’m talking about ;-) . The flavor is slightly musty in a good way, but very aromatically hopped. There are notes of snuff in the flavor, which again reminds me of my grandfather. Easily vineous flavor and palate with notes of alcohol in the aftertaste, but the beer is too watery.

(Draught at Café Plan B, Copenhagen) Dark brown colour, hazy (almost muddy), with huge white head. Malty nose with chocolate, citrus and a distinct hoppy aroma. Fruity and malty taste with dried fruit (raisins, prunes), citrus, grapefruit, caramel and a distinctly hoppy finish. Very nice brown ale (with very little in common with something slightly more boring from Tyneside).
