Light cardboard, toasted and caramel malt aroma with some hints of vanilla and smoke. Quite toasty in flavor. Mild chocolate and roast flavors also. Rather watery in body. Dry for the style(which I like). Muted hop character. Finishes fast. Overall, quite nice. Hansen (2289), Randers, Denmark

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Dec 24, 2006 Bottle: Very malty and hopped aroma with notes of caramel, liqourice and caraway seeds. Actually this smells a bit like my grandparents wood pill fire, but it’s of course only me that know exactly what I’m talking about ;-) . The flavor is slightly musty in a good way, but very aromatically hopped. There are notes of
snuff in the flavor, which again reminds me of my grandfather. Easily vineous flavor and palate with notes of alcohol in the aftertaste, but the beer is too watery. Svesse (2683), Hässelby, Sweden

Malty nose with chocolate, citrus and a distinct hoppy aroma. Fruity and malty taste with dried fruit (raisins, prunes), citrus, grapefruit, caramel and a distinctly hoppy finish. Very nice brown ale (with very little in common with something slightly more boring from Tyneside).
