Commercial Description:
A malty and easy drinkable barleywine with notes of caramel, chocolate, baked chestnuts and discrete hopping. The beer has been matured for several months before release providing it with a soft character. Of course unfiltered, unpasteurized and refermented in the bottle like all of our beers.

Dark ruby. 1.5cm dense tan head. Gorgeous color. Aroma of rich toffee malt, earth, a light dose of bitter and resinous hops, and a cinnamon like spice. Flavor adds caramel like sweetness, hop resin, herbal/vegetal notes, cookie malt, cocoa powder, a subtle root beer like thing going on here. Full/medium body, just to the smoother side of balanced. Unique barleywine, another solid Olfabrikken offering. From notes.

Bottle. A slightly hazy, deep copper colored beer with a small, beige head. The aroma has lots of piney hops blending nicely with the malty sweetness. The flavor is malty, very malty actually, with sweetness to balance the lovely piney hops. Full-bodied and warming in the mouth, and with a long, malty sweet finish well balanced with the hoppy bitterness. A rather lovely one, blending the ingredients cleverly. (090605)

(on bottle) (Totally on the memory; I bought a whole case of the stuff, but never seemed to get around to rate it. Thanx to Pinball for making me check) Solid, hopped brew, with a firm alcohol nose. Tha malt was really heavy on the mouth, so even though the beer seemed pretty hopped for a finish, it came out with a long, earthy og alcoholic finish.

Bottle, at London Shindig, August 2007. Sweet and hot. Straightforward barleywine. Some clean spree with hints of cinnamon. Quite enjoyable, though alcohol shows too much!
