Commercial Description:
A malty and easy drinkable barleywine with notes of caramel, chocolate, baked chestnuts and discrete hopping. The beer has been matured for several months before release providing it with a soft character. Of course unfiltered, unpasteurized and refermented in the bottle like all of our beers.

Bottle. Reddish amber colour with a little head. Sweet malty and caramel aroma. Flavour with notes of malt, alcohol and hops very nice and tasty.

Hazy nut brown color, not much head. Hops, brown sugar, some yeast. Very alcoholic, some rye bread and hops in the flavor. Some sweet raisins in the aftertaste. Too alcoholic to be enjoyable.

Bottled. Cloudy reddish amber. Aroma of lychee and apricot. Sweet, near full bodied with caramelly malt and notes of lingonberries. The malt has a strange hard core surrounded by cottony toffee. After the aroma malt flavours take over from the hops, offering grain and chocolate as well as caramel.

(Bottled) Muddy amber-brown with almost no head. Fruity, aromatic-hoppy aroma with grainy malt. Aromatic, fruity, lightly flowery flavor with grainy maltiness and slightly evident alcohol. A very hoppy and malty brew, but not the most balanced or enjoyable.

1st non-European rating of this beer - woohoo!

Bottle, courtesy of sk8viking. Thanks, Rene! Pours a dark mahogany color; fluffy off-white head with good retention and lacing. Dried red fruits and candy sugar in the aroma; surprisingly reserved in the nose. Full, chewy mouthfeel: plenty of dried red fruits and caramel upfront, with a light citrus sharpness and relaxed carbonation; there’s the slightest hint of a tart / overripe red fruit character in here: slightly oily and estery and lovely, all told. Very drinkable. Medium, sugary finish.

Aroma is strangly weak, but the one there is, is sweet caramel with some traces of hoppy citrus and alcohol. Mahogony colour with weak head and average carbonation. Taste is very caramel-malty with some roasted notes and since it is an ølfabrikken beer: a nice dose of hops (but not as much as usual). In no way is this beer undrinkable, on the contrary. Unlike with most other reviewers, this beer failed to impress me. Sorry, Richard...

Bottle at home ... Clear brown/red ... sweet honey malt nose ... Rich fruit ... Little caramel ... little toffee ... little bitter in linger ... AND with this i now close off my back log (beer 939). Many thanks to Jeppe for trusting me and leaving this and other beers at Weekend of Spontanious fermentation for me to pick up.
