Commercial Description:
A malty and easy drinkable barleywine with notes of caramel, chocolate, baked chestnuts and discrete hopping. The beer has been matured for several months before release providing it with a soft character. Of course unfiltered, unpasteurized and refermented in the bottle like all of our beers.

Unclear deep amber colored with a thin off-white head. Dominating grassy hoppy aroma with a good deal of sweet malt and toffee. Fine balance. Flavor has a sweet middle with some nice bitter hoppy edges and a candied sugary touch. Again balance is the word. Notes of berries and a hint of alcohol. An exteremly drinkable beer, I wouldn’t call it a bw though, more a well-hopped american strong ale.

500ml swing-top bottle bought at Ølbutikken, Copenhagen in August 07. After almost half a year in my cellar the sediments cling to the bottom, so the russet body colour has got a good clarity. Thin, beige head. Great smell of tangy hops alongside aroma of spicies. The taste brings sweet sappy, overriped fruits on a malty backbone with piney hints. Firm bitter finish. Noticeable alcohol. Well bodied (very much enjoyed during the polar night in Tromsø, 27.12.2007).

Bottle, bought @ Havnens Vin og Tobak, Vejle. Pours a deep red-brown with a thin creamy beige head. Aroma is great! Lots of hops, chocolate, roasted malts and nuts. Low carbonation. Flavour is great as well. Quite a lot of chocolate, a good dose of bitterness. Really complex flavour - some plums and roasted malts as well. There is a distant fruityness as well - a light vinious edge and a clingyness to my teeth. Great BW!

Brown with an off-white, medium sized head. Malty aroma with notes of citrus hops and alcohol. Sweet and malty with a hint of hop flavour. Warming with lots of alcohol in the finish.

A Mes rate: 50cl bottle at Chris O’s Shindig. Dark amber colour with an off white head. Typically lovely and o.t.t. Danish aroma. Very hoppy, barley sugar and a slight peaty note. Flavour is almost exactly the same. Glorious stuff. Long long barley and hops finish. The usual stunning Ølfabrikken palate. Another excellent beer from one of my favourite brewers.
