Commercial Description:
ØLFABRIKKEN COLUMBUS PALE ALE is a tribute to the American Columbus hop, which we love so much at Ølfabrikken. The beer presents itself with astonishing pungent aroma of pine and grapefruit, which is coming back in the flavor, balanced by sweetness from British caramel-malt. The aftertaste is long and dry and characterized by hops bitterness. Serve it with creole food such as blackened fish and dirty rice with melted butter, homemade chili/raisin/apple chutney. Ølfabrikken Columbus Pale Ale is of course unfiltered, unpasteurized like all Ølfabrikken beers.

Bottled Thx Gustaf. Amber with ammedium, tan head. A lot of flowery perfume in the aroma. Some toffee in the flavour, and flowery, citric hoppiness. Slightly oily palate with fine maltiness.

Bottle from someone. Best by June 2008, so unless this place dates their pale ales 1.5 years out there is no way this is retired. Bottle is a total gusher. Aroma of shrimpy hops and malt milkshakes. Flavor is mostly malty but has an underlying tea flavor that is really quite nice. Not too much complexity. Surprisingly hard to drink for a beer of only 5% alcohol.

Courtesy of Enjoyit. Red-orange warm color and the head is huge and creamy. The aroma has nice fruity hops with notes of citrus, spruce, papaya and it’s alluring. The flavour also is fruity hoppy with notes of citrus, papaya, mango, spruce and caramel. It’s really charming and nice!

Bottled. Reddish amber, airy head. Striking lychee aroma. Medium dry and medium bodied. Very hoppy with lots of fresh perfumy grapefruit and lychee. Malt is just for support, all the character lies in the vast amounts of American hops. Finishes with shampoo and pine needle-like bitterness.
