Commercial Description:
ØLFABRIKKEN COLUMBUS PALE ALE is a tribute to the American Columbus hop, which we love so much at Ølfabrikken. The beer presents itself with astonishing pungent aroma of pine and grapefruit, which is coming back in the flavor, balanced by sweetness from British caramel-malt. The aftertaste is long and dry and characterized by hops bitterness. Serve it with creole food such as blackened fish and dirty rice with melted butter, homemade chili/raisin/apple chutney. Ølfabrikken Columbus Pale Ale is of course unfiltered, unpasteurized like all Ølfabrikken beers.

500ml bottle (Pikkulintu, Helsinki)
Dark orange, healthy light persistent head. Sharp tangy bitter malty taste. Smooth carbonation. Excellent well balanced strong hoppiness complements the full spicy malty body. Slight soapiness in the hops, but fortunately not enough to spoil the taste. Good in almost every respect.

500ml swingtop from TheCheeseman! Pours a slightly hazy soft brown color with a perfectly formed tan head, sticking to the side of the glass in foamy clumps. 5 for looks. Nose smells mildly of grassy, dry hop cones with a lightly spicy waffle-esque malt note, slightly sweet, slightly nutty. Not exactly bursting with flavor, but it’s vivid enough and maybe even a little quiet while still performing... lightly chewy, moderately resinous, and a moderately bitter. Well made for sure.

Pours a hazy deep orange color. Aroma is resinous, with a slight citric backnote. Some wisps of malt and grain, along with a slight grassiness come through as well. The flavor is subdued and graceful, never becoming unbalanced. Very nice.

A thin, light beige/off-white head slowly and partially dissipates. The body is a murky orange with subtly glowing auburn hues. I can smell the hops as I investigate the appearance. Drawing the glass close, Pine and grapefruit share the spotlight and share it fully. Toasted grain is heavy and well-integrated into a powerful nose for a milder alcohol pale ale. Caramel is doused with orange citrus juices. Hints of cashews trickle in late. The flavor is moderately hoppy and bitter, with light astringency that’s at an insubstantial and complimentary/refreshing level. Acidity is notable and furthers the refreshment. Sweetness is low-medium and crystal malt isn’t bothersome. Earthiness is lively, as is the carbonation in a soft, medium mouthfeel with watery pockets throughout. The finish is slowly drying, piney, lightly bitter and fresh. Very good, very easy to drink.

.5 liter Bottle. Pours medium coppery amber with a thin lasting head and some good lace. Aroma is piney and nutty, with herbal spices some weed-like hints and wierd tropical fruits and some pineapple. More pine and sap in the flavor, good hop resinous bitterness with some doughy and cracker malts, more spicy earthy hop character which was wierd but nice. Good tacky bittering in the end. Nice Pale ale. Found this at Knightly in Fl.

500mL flip-top shared by Dickinsonbeer. Color is completely dark murky orange (I did pour last on this). Aroma is juts such a fresh hoppiness with no bitterness to detract from it. I get spiky, lightly sweet, perfume-y oranges. Taste presents a thicker sweetness both from malts and hops and again an orange-hoppiness. Has a nice full mouthfeel for a very drinkable hoppy beer.
