Commercial Description:
ØLFABRIKKEN COLUMBUS PALE ALE is a tribute to the American Columbus hop, which we love so much at Ølfabrikken. The beer presents itself with astonishing pungent aroma of pine and grapefruit, which is coming back in the flavor, balanced by sweetness from British caramel-malt. The aftertaste is long and dry and characterized by hops bitterness. Serve it with creole food such as blackened fish and dirty rice with melted butter, homemade chili/raisin/apple chutney. Ølfabrikken Columbus Pale Ale is of course unfiltered, unpasteurized like all Ølfabrikken beers.

Draft. A slightly hazy deep red beer with a nice creamy off-white head. The aroma is sweet and lovey hoppy giving it notes of spices, pine needles, and a flowery medow. The flavor is sweet with light notes of fruit, pine needles, malt, flowers, and caramel, leading to a dry and rather bitter end where notes of oranges and pine needles lingers for a long time. The body is quite thick.

(On tap) Clear, warm, amber golden with a small, off-white head. Fresh, piney - almost perfumy - nose. The body is medium with a clean and very dry base of caramel malt. Otherwise this is simply a great showcase of the lovely Columbus hops - it’s so intense that it almost gets a chemical twist - almost. Bitter - but not overly so - finish. Unfortunately this was served luke warm which deducts from the freshness. 200607

From tap at Ølbaren. Pours brown amber with a creamy off-white head. Sweet caramel malty and slight grany aroma, clear grape fruit hops note. Sweet fruity flavour with a nice caramel base beneath grape fruit hops. Nice strong bitterness in a dry finish. Nice, very classic Ølfabrikken.

Bottled. Reddish amber, airy head. Striking lychee aroma. Medium dry and medium bodied. Very hoppy with lots of fresh perfumy grapefruit and lychee. Malt is just for support, all the character lies in the vast amounts of American hops. Finishes with shampoo and pine needle-like bitterness.
