Commercial Description:
Near Ølfabrikken is a field with 1000 raspberry plants carrying a late sort of small and very flavorful raspberries. Once a year we pick the raspberries and throw them into a single brew. Due to The harvest 2005 was characterized by more rain and colder weather than usual, which meant than the berries was more tart than usual and even more complex in flavor. We decided that the base beer should be complex and sweet to match the berries. The resulting beer made from seven different malts, three different sugars, five different hops and a Belgian ale yeast provides a huge body and complexity matching the raspberries. Ølfabrikken Dekadence 2005 is of course unpasteurized, unfiltered and bottle conditioned like all of our beers.

Sampled at Cellar’s Wine & Spirits mini tasting, thanks goes to brewfiend for sharing this gem. Pours a hazy reddish brown brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that leaves no head but a film top. Aroma of tart raspberries, tart cherries a touch of yeast and chocolate. Taste is full bodied, plenty of alcohol, noo carbonation with flavors of tart berries, light chocolate, dry caramel malt and a touch of sour yeast. Finish is smooth, semi-dry with a tart berry aftertaste. The alcohol may be slightly over the top but still an excellent beverage.

Thanks to drewbeerme for this beer. Pours a murky red brown with a white head. Aroma of raspberry, strawberry, blueberry, and honey. Flavors of berry fruits, sweet, with a slight alcohol in the finish.

Thanks Drewbeerme for this retired beer. Murky, dark brown body not unlike flemish sour with small off-white head. Crazy fruit aroma, raspberries, strawberries, chocolate, grain in the back. Basically a mixed fruit basket of flavors, berries, very well hidden alc. Medium to thin body with some carb, very creamy. Very well done, should have seeds it’s so berry.

I am rating out of order so I can enter something cool for #2000. This beer has an excellent fruit aroma. Rather than raspberry, I smell cherry and grape. A beer with little to no carbonation. Light red color. A thick, full palate and good for slow sipping. I had no idea the abv was so high as it is expertly hidden by the complex flavor which is just a little sour, but also has minimally sweet, dry malt. Some sugar, as well as earth. Oak in the finish. Thanks to Brewfiend for sharing.

Bottle. Batch # 148. Hazy reddish color, lovely beige head. It´s raspberries all the way, but also much more. Balanced with hint of liqorize, alcohol, caramell and fine bitterness. Nam-nam.

(tap or bottle, can´t remember, august ´07 at Ølbaren, Jannik og Bagers bon voyage party) Murky and dark, with a dominance of the malts I´d say. The raspberries was present, but only as a vague backdrop in a niice finish of dirt, alcohol, caramels and a tad of liqourice.
