Commercial Description:
When the weather is cold enough we brew bottom fermented beers at Ølfabrikken. This German inspired lager is dark, malty and sweet as a real doppelbock but nontraditional hopped with floral and citrussy US Glacier hops for more freshness and springtime crispness. Ølfabrikken Fabrikator is, of course, unpasteurized, unfiltered and cask conditioned like all of our beers. Introduced on 'Københavnske Øldage 2006'.

Bottle courtesy of Papsoe: Pours a dark brown with a medium tan head. Aroma, caramel and some nutty notes, earthy. Flavor, roasted malts, caramel, some dark fruits, earthy bitterness. Finishes smooth with a roasty earthy bitterness. Pretty good.

Draught at Kobenhavnske Oldage, May 2006. Deep ruby colour. Lots of fruity malt in evidence. Soft but not too sweet. Fairly light bodied and fragrant for a Doppelbock. In fact, not particularly Doppelbock in style. Which isn’t a great problem for me as I’m not a big fan of that sticky, stewed, soy sauce character that is often found in Doppelbocks. Still not one of my favourite Olfabrikken beers though. The various elements didn’t seem as tightly integrated as they might have been.

500 ml bottle, via Storm. Pours a completely clear mahogany brown under a very creamy beige head that left a heavy sheet of lacing. The aroma is very malty and clean with toffee and caramel, light alcohol, and a hint of brown sugar. Flavor is all malt as well, slightly sweet up front, but drying out towards the finish. Light peppery alcohol, a little husky graininess, and a bit of tobacco. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, with moderate fizzy carbonation. No stickiness at all, and a chewy finish. This was pretty darn good. I could have done with a slightly thicker mouthfeel and less carbonation though.

Thanks Papsoe! Brownish hazy rust color, fizzy tan head. Dark cocoa powdery aroma with some spice. Flavor is pretty rich and full of cocoa, fruits, slight hop bitterness. Spices show up too, and they come together for a nice rounded flavor. Sampled before and during a steak dinner at my brothers, pretty good with the meal and overall!

Pours a hazy brown with a dimminishing off-white head. Smells of alcohol and malts. Slightly sour with flavors of malts and some hops. STRONG notes of alcohol. Hello sprittusch. Medium bodied. Dissappearing carponation. Slightly sour alcie finish.

Dark red brown, with a big and lasting of-white head. Malty aroma with some floral hoppiness. Caramel sweet malt flavour with only a hint of bitterness in the finish.

Bottle at home, shared with Mette. Mahogany - light yellow head. Very malty, caramel, sweet, a little hoppy taste and some choko. Lovely.
