Commercial Description:
When the weather is cold enough we brew bottom fermented beers at Ølfabrikken. This German inspired lager is dark, malty and sweet as a real doppelbock but nontraditional hopped with floral and citrussy US Glacier hops for more freshness and springtime crispness. Ølfabrikken Fabrikator is, of course, unpasteurized, unfiltered and cask conditioned like all of our beers. Introduced on 'Københavnske Øldage 2006'.

On tap at Cph Beerfestival. Deep reddish-brown with some off-white bubbles on top. Mild aroma, with sweet caramal and hops. Caramel-sweet flavor with some light roastiness and hops. Mellow, silky mouthfeel. A pleasant and drinkable beer, almost session-style. (060519)

Bottle. Off-white high and lasting head. Hazy dark amber body. Spicy liqorice aroma. Complex fruity, spicy and yet sweet hops flavor. Sounds like rubbish but I cannot describe it better.

A deep red beer with a thick bubbly reddish-orange-brown head (no, I can’t make up my mind). The aroma is thick with notes of over ripe fruits, prunes, alcohol, wood, and fresh cowberries - very complex. The flavor is sweet with notes of prunes, figs, wood, over ripe fruits, and with an acidity like sucking on sloe berries (I used to shoot them from electrical pipes when I was a kid - so I know) on a sweet malty and toffeeish back ground. The end is dry with the notes of sloe berries and figs lingering for some time, just to be taken over by a woodyness that out lasts them. A very complex Doppelbock with a very intriguing flavor composition - not traditional, but very interesting.

Draught at Københavnske Øldage 2006. Reddish brown colour with nearly no head. Sweet aroma of caramel and malt. Nice flavour of sweet maltness, winery and a touch of toffee. Very drinkable.

Draught. Brown-caramel with a large frothy eggshell head. The aroma consists of soap, bread, and plenty of caramel. Soft body, not too sweet - alcohol warmth and then there is caramel and some chalky chocolate. Sticky body - cookieish malt and overall quite tasty but I feel that it’s missing a certain boldness for the style. Sampled at the Københavnske Øldage 2006 on May 20, 2006.

Draught@Købehavnske Øldage. Sweet, sticky caramel flavours, with some berries and some bready malt characters. Quite sticky, as i expect from the style.
