Pours a completely clear mahogany brown under a very creamy beige head that left a heavy sheet of lacing. The aroma is very malty and clean with toffee and caramel, light alcohol, and a hint of brown sugar. Flavor is all malt as well, slightly sweet up front, but drying out towards the finish. Light peppery alcohol, a little husky graininess, and a bit of tobacco. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, with moderate fizzy carbonation. No stickiness at all, and a chewy finish. This was pretty darn good. I could have done with a slightly thicker mouthfeel and less carbonation though. Skinnyviking (4165), Copenhagen, Denmark

Complex fruity, spicy and yet sweet hops flavor. Sounds like rubbish but I cannot describe it better. bager (2121), Copenhagen N, Denmark

Dark cocoa powdery aroma with some spice. Flavor is pretty rich and full of cocoa, fruits, slight hop bitterness. Spices show up too, and they come together for a nice rounded flavor. Sampled before and during a steak dinner at my brothers, pretty good with the meal and overall! diabel (1372), Aarschot, Belgium
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 28, 2006 Bottle Hazy, brown head. Complex aroma of raisins, liquorice, liquor, red port, wine. Moderately bitter, lightly sweet initial flavour. Moderately bitter in the end. The flavour isn’t that complex at all as the aroma. But still very warming and soft. madsberg (5045), Søborg, Denmark

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 7, 2006 A deep red beer with a thick bubbly reddish-orange-brown head (no, I can’t make up my mind). The aroma is thick with notes of over ripe fruits, prunes, alcohol, wood, and fresh cowberries - very complex. The flavor is sweet with notes of prunes, figs, wood, over ripe fruits, and with an acidity like sucking on sloe berries (I used to shoot them from electrical pipes when I was a kid - so I know) on a sweet malty and toffeeish back ground. The end is dry with the notes of sloe berries and figs lingering for some time, just to be taken over by a woodyness that out lasts them. A very complex Doppelbock with a very intriguing flavor composition - not traditional, but very interesting. ChristianScheffel (4590), Odense, Denmark
