Commercial Description:
This beer was brewed to celebrate the Great Danish Beer Festival. It is a Belgian inspired amber ale which has been conditioned for six months for extra smoothness. The malts are balanced by delicious Czech Saaz hops. Ølfabrikken Festival Reserve is, of course, unpasteurized, unfiltered and bottle conditioned like all of our beers. Introduced on 'Københavnske Øldage 2006'. Only available in 1½ liter champagne bottles.

Bottle @ thewolfs pre-festival tasting, Kolding.
Bought @ Det Lille Ølhus, Ribe.
Pours deep golden with a medium, frothy, off-white head. Aroma has a bit of cellar, some good toffee, yeast and light exotic fruits. Super creamy mouthfeel. Great flavour, caramel, dryness, tripel, saison, barley wine. Feels nice, experimental and still balanced. Great!

Bottle, at the brew day, May 2006. Murky amber colour. Yeasty, with some estery fruit and an earthy edge. Somewhere between a Tripel and a Saison but hard to pin down. Rather soft mouthfeel with some hoppy bitterness only showing up late. Tasty, but didn’t quite do it for me.

1.5 L bottles shared with my staff. Pours orange/brown with yellow/brown head. Malt and very hoppy aroma. Taste is mild malty with lots of hops. Elements of yeast and fruit. Great beer that eveyone enjoyed.

Hazy amber of color with a light head. Some hops and sweets in aroma. Fine taste of hops and malt. More an IPA than belgium style in my mouth.

Hazy amber/brown coloured with light off white head. Malty, sweet aroma with a light acidic touch end even some vinegar. Malty sweetness, hops and a finishing bitterness in flavour. At the time it didn’t win me over, but I might get a chance for another go seeing we’ve still got one in the store.
