Commercial Description:
An Ølfabrikken guest brew. We have invited one of our colleagues to come by and do any brew he or she would like.
ØLFABRIKKEN MIKES BARLEYWINE has been created by American brewer and beer connoisseur Mike Murphy, who wanted to brew one of the (in)famous styles from his homeland. This has resulted in a strong and assertively bitter ale (90+ IBU's) dominated by Cascade, Chinook and Centennial hops, but still with enough sweetness to counter the hops. A bit of roasted barley provides depth and complexity to this truly unique brew. Mikes Barleywine is, of course, unpasteurized, unfiltered and bottle conditioned like all of our beers.

Deep reddish/ brown beer with a small dense light brown head. Light roasted malty aroma with chocolate notes and a nice hoppy bitterness. Light chocolate sweet flavor with a faint coffee note. Dry hoppy finish, a very wellbalanced beer.

Draft @ Plan B, Cph. Very malty nose, with lots of caramel and toffee, then it becomes very hoppy, very piney. Muddy dark brown to reddish body with a big frothy tan head on top. Flavor starts out malty, very chewy, then a big shot of hops and a nice biting bitterness in the finish. A very nice barley wine from the best danish brewery at the moment.

Deep amber colored with an orange gleam and a foamy light tan head. Nice and well balanced aroma of malt and caramel. Creamy, sweet and somewhat candied with some hoppy hints. Lots of malt in the flavor with a roasted tone and a nice bitter hoppy note. Creamy in the mouth, but maybe a bit thin in the finish. Really tasty and easy drinkable, a good all nighter!! Good job Mr. Murphy and Ølfabrikken!

Bottled: Amber coloured. Unclear. Light brown head. Berries, fruit and loads of hops in the nose. Is quite flowery. Very smooth flavour. Some chocolate, fruitnotes and again lots of hops. Alcohol is present all the way through the beer. Not as a dominant factor, but just simmering in the background giving some warming sensations. Has a sharp bitter end. I quite like this beer.

An unclear amber beer with a thich orange head. The aroma is sweet and very hoppy with some notes of the alfa acids. The flavor is sweet and very hoppy which gives it notes of straw. I don’t find much malt in this one, but the alcohol shows by giving you a warming feeling. If I had to guess the style I’d categorize it as an Imperial IPA.
