| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 19, 2008 Received 375 ml bottle via trade with Papsoe and sampled during Minnesota first annual Sourfest. Bottle pop explosion was cool, yet pours a hazy reddish brown brew with a a thick off-white head that quickly dissipates to a film top. Aroma of tart cherries, light vegetable, vanilla and a touch of oak. Taste is medium bodied, plenty of carbonation with flavors of light tart cherries, a little yeast, sour dough bread and some spice. Finish has a semi-dry tart aftertaste that quickly disappears. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 12, 2008 Sour aroma and flavor. This beer is a combination of styles with the sour acidity and vinegar-like flavor of a Flanders brown and the yeasty, barnyard, wild quality of a saison. It reminds me of Orval, but with the addition of cherries and lots of yeast, it certainly is a fruit beer. Real fruit flavor. Light red color.
