Commercial Description:
An Ølfabrikken guest brew. For the third time we have invited one of our colleagues to come by and do any brew he or she would like. Gunnhild Kolvereid Brewmaster at Brewpub Copenhagen has made a sour brown ale brewed with a normal Belgian ale yeast as well as brettanomyces, pediococcus and lactic acid bacteria. The beer has been matured on french oak and sour cherries and bottle conditioned for six moths before release. It is bottled with brettanomyzes which provides the beer with a nice sparkle underscoring the refreshing sourness. Unpasteurized, unfiltered and bottle conditioned like all of our beers.

50 cl bottle, via trade. Pours a slightly hazy reddish amber with a rather large thin fizzy head, light brown, which retained as a thin film. Zero lacing. The nose is a nice subtle mix of fruity sour cherry, dark malts, and sourness. A good bit of yeast. Reminds me in the nose of Phoenix Kriek. Nicely tart up front with a fairly muted cherry flavor, more stems and pits than fruit really. A good bit of doughy fluffy yeast. The malt is actually pretty thin, seems very highly attenuated. Some stickiness on the finish though. Mouthfeel is thinnish with a slightly puckering tartness. Some doughy stickiness on the finish. Overall, this was OK, but I’m wondering if the fruit has faded some?

Comments: Kinda spicy, very sharp, earthy and VERY sour beer whose low ratings surprise me a bit. I found it brilliant and if the carbonation was aggressive indeed, the body underneath was relatively round and stuffy enough if you just swirled it around a bit before gulping.

Draft. A muddy dark red beer with a thick orange head. The aroma is sweet and acidic with notes of wood and fruit as well as light notes of brettanomyces. The flavor is sweet and acidic with strong notes of fruit and over ripe cherries, leading to a woody finish.

THanks for bringing this one over to share with us Alex (Sick_boy282) Pours with a very muddy brown body with a pencil thin head and no lacing. The aroma is slightly sour and tart with a slight underlying maltiness and the very slightest hint of cherry. Ugh...the flavor isn’t very good...it’s sour yet malty but has a bad flavor that just doesn’t work. I don’t even know how to describe it. It’s highly carbonated and light bodied.

Draught at københavnske øldage. Muddy brownish colour with a small whitehead. Aroma and taste of hops and fruits with an awful sourness, almost acidic finish. .
