Commercial Description:
A dark and cold morning in the winter of 2007 Anders Kissmeyer from Nørrebro bryghus fired up his little smoke oven and started the slow and cumbersome process of preparing the malt for his guest brew on Ølfabrikken. The result of the many hours of hard work in smoke and ice cold winds is in this bottle. It is a brewed with the traditional London Porter in mind, but with a unmistakable Scandinavian twist, with its strong notes of elder-wood smoke. Ølfabrikken Anders Røgporter is of course unfiltered, unpasteurized and refermented in the bottle or keg like all of our beers.

Poured a dark brown color with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of smoked meat, burnt wood, oxidation, sherry, dark fruits, roast, and cocoa. Taste was also roasty, chocolaty, smokey, woody, fruity, and somewhat old. Thinner mouthfeel. Thanks to Joe for sharing.

Bottle via my Secret Santa. An exciting beer to get to try, especially as I didn’t realize it was a smoked before opening it and taking a whiff. Very hammy, meaty, briney, like a good Islay scotch, complete with seaweed and earthy notes. Clearly a lot of peat in here, though unlike many American counterparts it is working very well. Sweet peat flavor with a surprisingly light body and a beautiful, spicy kick from the rye right at the finish. Excellent!

Courtesy TheCheeseMan. Near black chestnut brown color, a little bit of white head present. Super smoky aroma, slightly meaty, but a lot of char also. Smooth roasty start, a ton of smoke, evens out on the dry finish. A very nice smoked.

Courtesy ChzMan. Dark brown with a bit of tan foam. Huge smoke in the aroma- full spectrum- savory to acrid, some faint malt in there, also. Flavor adds some bittersweet chocolate maltiness to the same intense smoke. Medium body, just smoother than balanced, easy drinking. Solid.

Courtesy Papsoe, thanks again. Pours a charred, deep chestnut brown. Aroma is intense, with the smoke leading the charge. There are some nice roasted notes, along with some chocolate. The flavor is brutishly smoked, but oddly enough, not over the top. Excellent beer.

Swing top bottle from thewolf, thanks! Almost black colored. Beechwood smoke aroma with pineapple. Malty, sweetish flavor with licorice and beechwood smoke. Some dark chocolate. Rich, smoky brew. Tasty, interesting and satisfyingly balanced.
