| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 29, 2007 Strong aroma of roasted malts with chocolate and coffee. I think I agree on the saltiness. Pours a black sticky motoroil substance. Taste is a bit sweet, very bitter due to coffee roast and chocolate, rye, dried fruits and sugar. This is very nice! caesar (3034), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Jul 29, 2007 Thanks skortila for storing this beer for qutie some time. Fluorescent dark color, no head. Heavy aroma of dark chocolat, heavy coffee, bit salty which reminds of soy sauce. Taste explosion of bitter chocolat and coffee, slight sour and salty again, which is the only bad thing in this beer I would say. Lingering palate. MiP (9159), Sønderborg, Denmark
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jul 22, 2007 Bottle, 8.5%. Batch #55. Pours an oily black liquid with no head, leaving wine-like curtain on my glass when tilted. Distinct liquorice aroma with a little port to it, quite vinous. The flavour is obviously liquorice, first dry, then more salty and sweet. Then there is hoppiness, grassy, aromatic hops. The finish is roasted with a hint of malt bitterness. The mouthfeel is very oily and thick. Low and pleasant carbonation. LooseCannon (936), Norfolk, Virginia, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jul 17, 2007 Thank you very much henrikb for what I can only hope will rock my face off! 500mL bottle, no date--though I believe this is a one off brew. It looks like this thing’s going to be retired tomorrow, if I understand the rules correctly. Pours a thick creamy black with a minimal ran head that fades to a thin film. Upon rousing I don’t get much more, but my glass is now stained. Aroma has lots of roasted malts, bitter chocolate, and anise up front. There’s also some type of acidic berry or fruit, soy, light alcohol, and a fair amount of scorched sweet ______--I can’t figure out what it is. As it warms up, some sweet roasted grain and toasted hazelnuts become appear. There is a nice balance between sweet and roasty bitterness in the flavor, even a bit of salt are the first things I notice. In addition to the anise, there is a hint of smoke. The finish is quite roasty with some moderate bitterness with a little bit of ash. Lightly alcoholic. I need to drink some milk or a gallon of water to cleanse the palate on this one. Just a tinge of carbonation and a full, thick creamy body. Thanks again, Henrik!
