Aroma of sweet dark caramel malt with lots of dark fruits and some smoky notes. Body starts full, malty and sweet with nice dark fruity plum and caramel complexity with a dense creamy finish with big roasty smoky notes. A very nice beer with great balance and surprising drinkability! Grovlam (3810), Copenhagen, Denmark

This one was really special, and amazingly brewed. Goes down so smooth, just like a port wine. Appearance of head almost none excising. What was there was brown and fizzy like. Color was coffee black with no penetrating light what so ever. Aroma was quit complex with notes of licorice, wild barriers and dry fruit, chocolate, coffee, roasted, alcohol, wood and even some hoppy notes as well. Very vinous bouquet. Full bodied with an oily texture and a flat carbonation. Flavor is playful moderated sweet notes with balancing burned candies bitterness. Lovely finish that lingers for ever. Well done Ølfabrikken! zathrus13 (1301), Mount Laurel, New Jersey, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 25, 2007 Only seconds of dark tan head; near black beer. Ureum, roasted grains, slight sourish edge, wet dog, and something perfumey. Liquorice, ureum, sweet and bitterish-roasted; little sourness, but with some definite saltiness. Finishes with lots of coffee. Very full body, tastes even heavier than it is. Titillating MF, despite the absent head. A typical full-bodied porter. A bit too much ureum, but quite good overall. Thanks Jeppe and Mikkel! peter (385), Dallas, Texas, USA

This gives me 4 countries with 1000 ratings or more.
A pitch black beer with a nice very dark brown head. The aroma has strong notes of dark bitter chocolate, combined with notes of oranges, and a bit of hops. The flavor is extremely powerful - quite sweet with very strong notes of dark bitter chocolate, roasted almost burnt malts, caramel, vanilla, wood, cherries, and alcohol, leading to a very bitter end where the chocolate, alcohol, and citrus from the hops lingers around. The mouthfeel is almost like tar. WOW. SoLan (1424), Orlando, Florida, USA

Nose of dark fruits, anise, old wet wood, dirt, burnt bitterness, cocoa powder, smoke. Flavorof dark berries, milk chocolate, old wet wood, burnt bitterness, smoke, more subtle anise. Medium/full body, smooth, viscous. Excellent, top notch porter.
