Commercial Description:
Ølfabrikken Gammel Ekstra Porter (Old Extra Porter) is an attempt to recreate a porter as it used to taste in its heyday. This beer starts with a pitch black wort which is boiled for 14 hours. This is necessary to obtain the slightly acidic flavor of burned sugar characteristic for the way these beers were produced. Aged 6 months before release. Only 360 bottles released. Of course, unpasteurized, unfiltered and bottle conditioned like all of our beers.

500. Holy CRAP! This is INCREDIBLE! Thank you, Maria! Wow, what an awesome beer. Pours a deep, opaque black with scarcely any head at all. Gargantuan, head-filling nose of licorice, chocolate, plums, cherries, roast, and other miscellaneous goodness. Astonishing. Attack is bold: thick body, oily, velvety. Light carb. Quite still, in fact. Very forward flavors. VERY forward. Roasty, chocolatey, dark tree fruit. Lovely. Nearly indescribable. It really doesn’t get too much better than this. Thank you so much, Maria.

Bottle 50cl w. sving-top @ chris o’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2008.
Clear dark black color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light brown head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, chocolate, coffee, vintage - alcohol. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily - syrupy, carbonation is soft to flat. Very very nice so happy to been able to taste this nice beer, the flavour was .. f**k fantastic ;o)) (020808)

tried at Another Santee Sampling. this time at toncatcher’s house. Super rarity brought by WeeHeavySD. Thanks Jon! Dark Red-Black color. Low carbonation. Dark tan small ring around the edge of the glass. Sweet and mellow. Some mellowed bitterness.

99th rating of this brew of 360 total bottles. Bottle via trade with Papsoe, his last bottle shared at Toncatcher’s tasting with sd peeps. Pours black with a tan ring. Nose is sweet with a big big big malt feeling. Taste is sweet and chocolately with lots of character, this was a fantastic sipper with so much flavor and complexity, I wish I could have it again, doubt it will happen.

Bottle from henrikb, at the 2008 Pre-GBBF Chris o Shindig. Thick, deep black pour, light tan scattering of bubbles. Rich soft chocolate aroma: brownies, cinnamon, a little well-aged Christmas pudding. Not exactly thick on the palale, but round, soft and beautifully mouthfilling: perfect. Trying to conjure of more adjectives for the flavor, but its just chocolate all the way. Molten, decadent, milk chocolate. Yum!
