Mar 5, 2009 Deep dark porter with a thick dark moka head. A nice funky aroma of chocolate, cold coffee, and cast iron post. In mouth, a bitter herbal chocolate, very intense, with light peated notes, cold coffee. Rich and enticing. A superb porter. Bieropholie import BB Dec. 2006. Tasted with Probstk, May 26 2007.

Feb 28, 2009 Pours a thick viscous black color with a tall soapy tan almost brown head. Aroma of chocolate, cherry, coffee, and roasted malts. Rich and velvety on the palate with chocolate, coffee, cherry, and a roasted malt finish awakening the tongue.Just awesome!

Feb 27, 2009 Aroma is rich, smoky, with a strong coffee-ish undertone and a firm hint of unsweetened chocolate - the sort of aroma I expect from a good porter. It pours a rich, opaque black - not sable, but solid black - with a thick, frothy tan head. Strong, satisfying flavor lives up to the promise of the aroma and appearance, being strongly smoky with tones of rich roasted coffee, unsweetened chocolate, and burnt caramel, with nutty and butterscotch hints. Texture is satisfyingly smooth and thick, leaving a smoky aftertaste that has touches of both hoppy bitterness and honey sweetness. I know ratings of all 5’s are supposed to be rare, but this beer deserves a perfect rating!

Feb 27, 2009 Very nice porter poured black with a little brown foam but almost no head. There were some rich chocolatey, malty aromas, and almost no hop aroma. The flavor was chocolatey, coffee, earthy and slight bitterness with a good amount of sweetness to balance it out, no hops. There was a slight medicinal character but not overwhelming, very minor. There was just an awesome mouthfeel to this beer it was smooth as silk. Really nice.

Feb 22, 2009 Updated: Mar 30, 2009Rich Dark pour with a tan head. Earthy aromas of coffee, chocolate, dark sugars, and prunes. Intensely complex flavors, rich coffee bean is complemented nicely by some anise and rich dark bitter chocolate. Deep dark fruits are also present in the middle. the end is all coffee bean. Absolutely fantastic, I couldnt ask for a deeper porter.

Feb 15, 2009 Big bottle. Pours Pitch black with nice tan head, lasts a while. Coffee, chocolate, and earthy roots in the aroma. Flavor is very complex, lots going on. Dominated by smoke dark chocolate, brown sugar, and there is some sort of herb in there somewhere. Starts bitter, sweet in the middle, and finishes bitter with a hint of anise. Thick, thick, thick, like eating oatmeal. Very good beer, interesting porter with and interesting twist. Find it.

Feb 15, 2009 500 mL bottle. A little past its "2007-09" best before date. Blackest porter I’ve ever seen. A strong, medicinal aroma with alcohol and roast. Tastes like porter, but not any porter I’ve ever had before: anise, roast, cough syrup, herbs, tar (?). Smooth. Unique.
