Commercial Description:
Editor’s note: Recent canned batches of this have been brewed at Bryggeriet S.C. Fuglsang and Harboe.
The first batch of this beer destined for export to the US market was brewed at Nøgne Ø in Grimstad, Norway in 2006. Later batches have been brewed at Ølfabrikken.
Introduced at ’Fynske Øldage’ 2005.

A dark and rich porter inspired by the Baltic porters traditionally made in Scandinavia. Roasted without being burned or bitter, with the flavor dominated by dried fruits and vinous notes. High amounts of residual sugars and a fruity aroma makes this beer the perfect companion for chocolate desserts, if served lightly chilled. Brewed on Maris Otter ale malt, British Brown Malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, two types of caramel malt and brown sugar. Unpasteurized and unfiltered like all our beers of course.

ok so here I sit looking at all these bottles in my cellar, deciding what to drink for # 300 what is worty of the milestone,,,,so I reach in an grab this one.poured very very dark brown almost black like a good stout with a brown 1/4 inch head.aromas of roasted malts, friuts and molasses, nowfor the taste wow very strong for a porter like its on steroids, but not over powering roasted malts, molasses, dark friuts, and a sweet taste of sugar, thick mouthfeel most definitly lives up to its hype a world class beer but I think it should be in the imperial/strong porter catagory

Bottle shared at Tupalev, big thanks to whoever brought this! Could this not maybe be classified as an Imperial/Strong Porter? Wait, no, that would just make too much sense, and style classifications are NOT supposed to make sense, the more ambiguous and debatable the better! Pours a very nice dark brown with a small rich brown head. The aroma is full of molasses and dark chocolate roast. Very roast driven flavour with great balanced astringency, but with a weak finish. The finish is my only problem with it. Kind of metallic and weird. But it’s fleeting and everything else is great about this one. I’m very glad to have tried this Porter.

22oz bottle from Swolf3, thanks Steven. Dark pour, no light penetration. Faint dark roasty aroma. Mild flavor, but very good, lingers on the tongue for awhile. Thanks again Wolf.

Bottled 1PT 6.3 FL OZ. It pours a very dark beer with a small deep brown head - impressive appearance. Strong complex aroma with coffee, caramel, earthy hops, biscuits, lemon peel, brown sugar, marzipan and dark chocolate showing up. Full bodied. Sweet taste. Lightly smoky. Hints of coffee, wood and tar appearing. A tad salty. Beautiful lacework. There is definately a nice hop profile to this beer - good bitterness. Thick mouthfeel. Wonderful finish with a huge amount of bourbon, vanilla and coffee. Very good - but far from being a wonderful beer. More like an imperial stout than a porter. Thanks a lot nearbeer for this beer!

Bottle from Monument ala DTM. This is the best porter I’ve ever tasted, although I thought it might have been an Imperial Stout upon drinking it. Roasted malts, chocolate, toffee, almonds, caramel... what was not in this brew? Great flavor and slightly less on the scent. Excellent palate and full-bodied. Fullers is a distant second.

Bottle from Monument in Concord, CA. Poured so thick I thought I was drinking an imperial stout. Tasted of chocolate and roasted malts. Smooth and creamy on the palate. I was a bit skeptic about the 8.50 price tag for a bomber, but it was well worth it.

This is hands down the best porter I have ever had. Chocolate creamy smoothness. If I didn’t know it was a porter I would swear it was a stout. This beer was so dangerously creamy and smooth it was like drinking chocolate milk. Nice tan head excellent nose and the taste is something that leaves you wanting more. This is without a doubt the best porter you would ever want to consume NOTHING else comes close. RECOMMEND.
