Commercial Description:
Editor’s note: Recent canned batches of this have been brewed at Bryggeriet S.C. Fuglsang and Harboe.
The first batch of this beer destined for export to the US market was brewed at Nøgne Ø in Grimstad, Norway in 2006. Later batches have been brewed at Ølfabrikken.
Introduced at ’Fynske Øldage’ 2005.

A dark and rich porter inspired by the Baltic porters traditionally made in Scandinavia. Roasted without being burned or bitter, with the flavor dominated by dried fruits and vinous notes. High amounts of residual sugars and a fruity aroma makes this beer the perfect companion for chocolate desserts, if served lightly chilled. Brewed on Maris Otter ale malt, British Brown Malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, two types of caramel malt and brown sugar. Unpasteurized and unfiltered like all our beers of course.

Can... Well this should be very different from the bootle version, and I think it is, because this is just strong bitter burnt malts.

bomber at Sergio’s. The style needs to be changed to Baltic porter. Good stuff, very similar/synonymous with imperial stout as far as style goes. Rich creamy roasty chocolaty smokey with molasses. Medium to heavy body with minimal carbonation.

A bottle (2005) tasted at Pikkulintu. Strong coffee in the nose. Brown head. Dark brown colour. At the end hoppy bite. Slightly sweet taste with hints of chocolate and coffee.

Chosen as the beer to complement my christmas roast beef dinner, and it did a bang up job at that! Pours a motor oil black with a smallish tan head that evaporates quickly. Strange aroma of brown sugar in this one along with licorice and a roasted malt smell. Sweetish flavor up front with a nice hop bitterness at the end to balance the palate. Bit of licorice in the finish as well. One of the best porters I have ever had and I will definitely be picking up one or two more of these.

50cl bottle from Rollin Oats (St. Pete, FL). Pours a dark brown to black color with a one finger off-white head. Aroma is sweet and malty with deep dark chocolate, honey, ripe dark fruit, and some spice. Flavor is sweet and malty as well with notes of sweet and dark chocolate, fudge cake icing, maple syrup, just hints of coffee and toffee. Generally medium to full body with a sweet and malty finish.

2008 Bottle - Pours thick dark brown with a tan head...aroma is dark chocolate and coffee, but a bit medicinal on th end...flavour is cloying, bold, burnt grain, sweet malt..its a bit lighter than I expected, but by no means light..finishes with a bit of vanilla...fantastic paired with some chocolate

Pours with a dark brown to black body topped by a thin head, light brown head with some lacing. It is sweet and malty with a roasted coffee note and a very light smoke note as wellas alcohol esters. Medium to full bodied and smooth.
