Commercial Description:
Editor’s note: Recent canned batches of this have been brewed at Bryggeriet S.C. Fuglsang and Harboe.
The first batch of this beer destined for export to the US market was brewed at Nøgne Ø in Grimstad, Norway in 2006. Later batches have been brewed at Ølfabrikken.
Introduced at ’Fynske Øldage’ 2005.

A dark and rich porter inspired by the Baltic porters traditionally made in Scandinavia. Roasted without being burned or bitter, with the flavor dominated by dried fruits and vinous notes. High amounts of residual sugars and a fruity aroma makes this beer the perfect companion for chocolate desserts, if served lightly chilled. Brewed on Maris Otter ale malt, British Brown Malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, two types of caramel malt and brown sugar. Unpasteurized and unfiltered like all our beers of course.

50cl bottle from Rollin Oats (St. Pete, FL). Pours a dark brown to black color with a one finger off-white head. Aroma is sweet and malty with deep dark chocolate, honey, ripe dark fruit, and some spice. Flavor is sweet and malty as well with notes of sweet and dark chocolate, fudge cake icing, maple syrup, just hints of coffee and toffee. Generally medium to full body with a sweet and malty finish.

2008 Bottle - Pours thick dark brown with a tan head...aroma is dark chocolate and coffee, but a bit medicinal on th end...flavour is cloying, bold, burnt grain, sweet malt..its a bit lighter than I expected, but by no means light..finishes with a bit of vanilla...fantastic paired with some chocolate

Pours with a dark brown to black body topped by a thin head, light brown head with some lacing. It is sweet and malty with a roasted coffee note and a very light smoke note as wellas alcohol esters. Medium to full bodied and smooth.

Bottle from Barley Wine, Copenhagen. Tastes of sweet liquorice and roasted malt. Tastes almost like a milk/sweet stout. Very drinkable!

Bottle. Black. Nice brown head. Light smoked aroma. Smells malted barley and alcohol. Sweet and roasted taste of coffee and chocolate. Could have had more depth to it.

Pours a deep black with aroma of chocolate, spice, choc. malt, vanilla, & maple. Flavor is same with coffee throughout. Lingering coffee bitterness with awesome yellow coat on glass. Complexity abounds

This stuff is good. Pours black with a really nice tan head. Aroma is roasted malts, lots of sugar, and chocolate. Flavor is smoky and almost a little grainy. Lots of sweet caramel and chocolate too though. Finishes quite dry with slightly acidic malt hint. Quite tasty brew, but definitely a sipper.
