Commercial Description:
Editor’s note: Recent canned batches of this have been brewed at Bryggeriet S.C. Fuglsang and Harboe.
The first batch of this beer destined for export to the US market was brewed at Nøgne Ø in Grimstad, Norway in 2006. Later batches have been brewed at Ølfabrikken.
Introduced at ’Fynske Øldage’ 2005.

A dark and rich porter inspired by the Baltic porters traditionally made in Scandinavia. Roasted without being burned or bitter, with the flavor dominated by dried fruits and vinous notes. High amounts of residual sugars and a fruity aroma makes this beer the perfect companion for chocolate desserts, if served lightly chilled. Brewed on Maris Otter ale malt, British Brown Malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, two types of caramel malt and brown sugar. Unpasteurized and unfiltered like all our beers of course.

Based on the heavy roast flavors, I would have thought this was an impy stout rather than a porter. Very flavorful with grainy coffee, chocolate, and a touch of ash. I expected a higher ABV on a beer with such big flavors. Fantastic beer that I could drink all day.

Pours black, with a dark brown head. Aroma is of strong roasted malts and slight coffee. Taste starts off with the malt flavor, chocolate and a slight bit of coffee. The more you drink, the more coffee and licorice flavors come out. Finishes deliciously with strong chocolate taste.

Thanks to allday drinker for shareing this with me on my birthday. It has a color that is blacker then the darkest night with a thin tan head that faded kind of quick. The nose is very robust with hints of coffee, roasted malt and mocha and you can pick some hints of almond. The taste is very smooth with a lot of roasted chocolate and mocha that sticks to your palate. I really like the aftertaste since it is extreamly roasted and does not ever fade, it is like having the beer in your mouth minus the liquid.

Lures you in wth the aroma of chocolate and coffee, very roasty and somewhat sweet first impression. Full bodied mouthfeel, creamy, nicely sweet and sticky. Finishes roasty, there is chocolate and coffee but also some notes of smoky goodness. A great porter.

Bottle. Pours opaque black without even a hint of light around the edges, no head at all. Aroma is baker’s chocolate, molasses, a bit boozy, soy. Taste is dark and roasty, dry, espresso, hint of alcohol, cocoa, and soy. Dry, roasty finish. Mouthfeel is smooth, viscous and thick, with a very faint carbonation.

Bottle - thanks Death w a K- Deep black pour with a brown head. Rich liquor aroma with coffee and toffee. Carries into the pallet, pretty smooth and malty with a boozy roasted quality (ready for a cigar). Well blended and a touch of hops, great one this!

pours muddy black with a large rocky light brown head. Aroma is heavily malty of roasted malts, carmel, and cookies lightly hoppy and yeasty of dark fruits and a bit of bannanna and alcohol. Flavor is balanced twords sweet a bit, roasty malts, carmel almost toffee flavors, and dark fruit like figs. Finishes a little more bitter tha it started but roasty flavor finish it off. Fluu bodied, creamy and softly carbonated. Great!
