Commercial Description:
Editor’s note: Recent canned batches of this have been brewed at Bryggeriet S.C. Fuglsang and Harboe.
The first batch of this beer destined for export to the US market was brewed at Nøgne Ø in Grimstad, Norway in 2006. Later batches have been brewed at Ølfabrikken.
Introduced at ’Fynske Øldage’ 2005.

A dark and rich porter inspired by the Baltic porters traditionally made in Scandinavia. Roasted without being burned or bitter, with the flavor dominated by dried fruits and vinous notes. High amounts of residual sugars and a fruity aroma makes this beer the perfect companion for chocolate desserts, if served lightly chilled. Brewed on Maris Otter ale malt, British Brown Malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, two types of caramel malt and brown sugar. Unpasteurized and unfiltered like all our beers of course.

Wow, never had a beer with a thick creamy palate like this one. Huge chocolate aroma hit me right in the nose as soon as I began to pour. Easily, the richest beer I’ve ever tried. Taste like fudge. Delicious! Only downfall would be the head didn’t last very long but that’s being very very picky.

Bottle shared by Death with a K. Thanks Keath. Pours extremely dark brown, nearly black, with a brown head. Smells of booze, like a dark rum, licorice root, & coffee. Taste is once again boozy with some chocolate, coffee, licorice, and dark fruit notes. Really this is more of an imperial stout than a porter. Alcohol is a bit too noticeable for my tastes. Nice slow sipper but maybe just a tad overrated.

Bottle from Citybeer. Poured a dark brown with a small creamy head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, and dark fruit. Taste is very malty (roasted), with coffee, caramel, and a bit of hops. Mouth is pretty creamy. Very nice porter.

Aroma: very nice, forest woods, wet blueberry shrubs, raisins, dark malt, slightly flowery. Some sourish cocoa.
Flavour: bittersweet, roasted malt. Coffee. Robust yet delicate. Not as sweet as I expected. Flowery rather than syrupy sweetness. Sappy. Long, bitter aftertaste. Hoppy & nice...
Palate: sappy, thin, slightly silky & frothy but still thin with moderate but piercing carbonation.
Appearance: very dark, musky brown. Thin with beige/yellow/coffee-head.

Bottle. Pours a deep black with a creamy brown head that lasts and leaves some great lacing. Dark fruity malt aroma with lots of roastiness. Slightly sweet dark fruit and molasses flavors, along with malt, coffee and chocolate. Creamy on the palate. Seriously great brew.

Bottle & draught. Both very good. Some smoke, burnt and sand in the smell. Creamy, bitter, lots of carbonation. Very good!
