Commercial Description:
Editor’s note: Recent canned batches of this have been brewed at Bryggeriet S.C. Fuglsang and Harboe.
The first batch of this beer destined for export to the US market was brewed at Nøgne Ø in Grimstad, Norway in 2006. Later batches have been brewed at Ølfabrikken.
Introduced at ’Fynske Øldage’ 2005.

A dark and rich porter inspired by the Baltic porters traditionally made in Scandinavia. Roasted without being burned or bitter, with the flavor dominated by dried fruits and vinous notes. High amounts of residual sugars and a fruity aroma makes this beer the perfect companion for chocolate desserts, if served lightly chilled. Brewed on Maris Otter ale malt, British Brown Malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, two types of caramel malt and brown sugar. Unpasteurized and unfiltered like all our beers of course.

Poured dark, possibly deep ruby. Aroma - Burnt malt and dark fruit. Very sweet with notes of brown sugar, roast malt, dark chocolate, coffee and dark fruit. Maybe a hint of root beer. Somewhat complex, at least for my taste. Thick mouthfeel. Very satisfying.

Bottle, gift from Mes. Very dry but nice velvety mouth feel. Dark Chocolate, very milky coffee (just how I like it). A very good porter.

Bottle, Very little brown head. Extremely dark amber/black body. Aroma of burnt molasses and caramel. Heavy alcohol notes in the aroma. Full bodied with a sticky texture. Long duration and extremely sweet finish.

Sample courtesy of piscator- pours a flat looking dark cola. Nose- odd smell, not usual roast and dark fruits. Taste- really sour, which normally is a good thing, but not so much in a big porter. Touch of chocolate in the body and finish but mostly had a off twang. Drinkability is still pretty good in spite of the potentially off bottle.

Deep brown pour. Nose is of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate and caramel. Taste brings out the coffee, malt and chocolate, segueing in to brown sugar at the end. Mouthfeel is opulent. Finish is long and languorous, with a hint of hops. A couple of bottles of this and my Danish blood will rise up and force me to pillage England...

POured a dark dark brown with a nice tan head. Aroma is of a lot of caramel and chocolate. Flavor is sweet chocolate, caramel, and toffee, not too miuch coffee bitterness to it. Good, but a bit disappointed for the hype.

500ml bottle, 8.0% abv. Nicely roasty, dark chocolate aroma, some lightly smoky notes and espresso, along with hints of toffee and raisin. Solid ebony color with a fine, subsiding, brown head. Flavor profile includes bittersweet chocolate, roasty coffee, smoky char, prune, red grape, earth, black bread and dark toffee, finish sees a touch of black cherryish fruitiness and even a bit tartness. Smooth, silky, thinly coating mouthfeel, body is medium-full. Very nicely balanced and fairly complex, just an impressive strong Porter style all around.
