Commercial Description:
Editor’s note: Recent canned batches of this have been brewed at Bryggeriet S.C. Fuglsang and Harboe.
The first batch of this beer destined for export to the US market was brewed at Nøgne Ø in Grimstad, Norway in 2006. Later batches have been brewed at Ølfabrikken.
Introduced at ’Fynske Øldage’ 2005.

A dark and rich porter inspired by the Baltic porters traditionally made in Scandinavia. Roasted without being burned or bitter, with the flavor dominated by dried fruits and vinous notes. High amounts of residual sugars and a fruity aroma makes this beer the perfect companion for chocolate desserts, if served lightly chilled. Brewed on Maris Otter ale malt, British Brown Malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, two types of caramel malt and brown sugar. Unpasteurized and unfiltered like all our beers of course.

pours black with two finger dark tan head, the aroma is heavy with chocolate and caramel, the flavor is extremely smooth and very similar to a stout, it came across slightly bitter at first but smoothed out as i am drinking it, i also notice the alcohol a little more than i would like, overall this is very enjoyable!

22oz. Dark brown pour with a cream colored head. Balanced and sweet aroma - cherries, hops, cocoa, lightly smoky, toast. Light toffee and caramel. Really lovely aroma, savory notes. Flavor is less complex, but just as balanced. The fruit is lost, but cocoa is there, with the toast and the smoke. Lightly sweet, chalky, yet smooth, finish. Lingering bitterness. A little more sweetness in the flavor would go a long way. Silky but oily in the mouth. Well brewed, I need to get my hands on some more Olfabrikken stuff.

Bottled sample via boutip (I think),and shared with oakbluff. Black in colour with low to moderate carbonation. Very vineous aroma, with lots of oak char, chocolate, syrah grapes, and some tar. I think we must have had an off bottle, as this one was quite sour in the mouth. Some chocolate and roasted malts were evident, but any residual caramel sweetness that might have been there was totally gone. Some grape and stewed fruit notes were present. Still quite drinkable, even though it was infected/soured.

Pours dark black with almost no head. Smell is rich and chocolatey, and lightly sweet with a mild meatiness about it. Taste is rich, chocolately, meaty and a hint of soy in there as well. Rich, meaty sweetness, but balanced enough. Solid beer with a great mouthfeel as well. Nice porter.

Pitch dark with a small tan head. Surprised by only slight bitterness combined with the very full smell / aroma. A hint of Danish sour dough bread and strong coffee. Alcohol seemd very present and made it a bit unblanced (the declaration on the can said 8,5 %, not 7.5). Would be nice to try it on tap.

A- Pours pitch black with a small, brown head. S- Smell is HUGE. Vanilla, spices, cream, hints of coffee. T- Taste is big as well. Starts off sweet, moves into coffee, christmas spices, creamy. M- Thick with low carbonation. D- This is essentially an imperial stout. Huge flavor. I enjoyed it but I just can’t seem to get past the coffee flavor in some beers and with this one that is certainly the case.

From a can - but nice to buy canned beer of such quality! Poured into a pint glass it looks amazing - like the "ur"-porter, if there ever was one. So balanced that it’s almost too much. Everything is in its rigth place. Taste is not too sweet, but hold together by a vaguely hoppy dryness. Rough, but still drinkable, Perfect!
