Commercial Description:
Editor’s note: Recent canned batches of this have been brewed at Bryggeriet S.C. Fuglsang and Harboe.
The first batch of this beer destined for export to the US market was brewed at Nøgne Ø in Grimstad, Norway in 2006. Later batches have been brewed at Ølfabrikken.
Introduced at ’Fynske Øldage’ 2005.

A dark and rich porter inspired by the Baltic porters traditionally made in Scandinavia. Roasted without being burned or bitter, with the flavor dominated by dried fruits and vinous notes. High amounts of residual sugars and a fruity aroma makes this beer the perfect companion for chocolate desserts, if served lightly chilled. Brewed on Maris Otter ale malt, British Brown Malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, two types of caramel malt and brown sugar. Unpasteurized and unfiltered like all our beers of course.

Rating #200. Pours jet black with brown head. Aromas of roastef malts, coffee and chocolate. Similar flavors with some oak also. Big and robust for a porter, it’s almost like an imp stout with less alcohol. Full body with minimal carbonation and a thick, creamy mouthfeel. Excellent porter.

Bottle from BOLTZ7555, thanks Jason! Aroma has notes of coffee, roasted malts, dried fruit, wood, and chocolate. Very deep amber brown that sits black in the glass. Smaller sized light tan head that almost completely diminished and left a little lace. Flavor is roasted coffee and chocolate with some smoke and oak. Palate is medium bodied and soft. A good roasted brew and quite complex.

bottle thanks to bullzeye. black pour with a thick mahogany head. thick roasted malts and chocolate on the nose. by the looks of this thing i would’ve guessed it was a stout. great thickness and a very smooth flavor of roasted malts that dwindle into deep dark chocolate hints as the beer warms.

Bottle pours like an impy. Deep brown with a decent, dark oatmeal colored head. Nose is rich with chocolate, coffee, roasted malt. The flavor is spot on the aroma, with roastiness standing out. Slight bitter finish. Subtly smooth on the palate. I would consider this a very good Imperial Stout by any measure, (except ABV!) and for that reason, I see why it’s the number one Porter out there.

BOTTLE: pours nice dark black with a very thick dark tan, slow head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, malts, makes me think I’m about to eat some expensive candy. Flavor is a wonderful mouthful of chocolaty sugary goodness with a bit of long lasting, sting on the tongue, somewhat oily and wonderfully delicious. A++++
