Commercial Description:
Editor’s note: Recent canned batches of this have been brewed at Bryggeriet S.C. Fuglsang and Harboe.
The first batch of this beer destined for export to the US market was brewed at Nøgne Ø in Grimstad, Norway in 2006. Later batches have been brewed at Ølfabrikken.
Introduced at ’Fynske Øldage’ 2005.

A dark and rich porter inspired by the Baltic porters traditionally made in Scandinavia. Roasted without being burned or bitter, with the flavor dominated by dried fruits and vinous notes. High amounts of residual sugars and a fruity aroma makes this beer the perfect companion for chocolate desserts, if served lightly chilled. Brewed on Maris Otter ale malt, British Brown Malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, two types of caramel malt and brown sugar. Unpasteurized and unfiltered like all our beers of course.

My label says 8.0% ABV. Oily black pour, thick mocha head. Intensely roasted malt, chocolatey aroma with prunes, figs, plums underlying. Rich roast, milk chocolate, figgy plummy port-wine fruitiness, leathery and musty, woody and subtley smokey. Sweet. Heavy, creamy velvety mouthfeel. Outstanding in every respect.

Can 33cl. Pitch black body with a nice large brown head. Lots of roasted malt in the nose. Roasted malt, cofee, chocolate and licorice dominates flavour. Very bitter finish.

Can at home. Black with a creamy light brown head. Aroma heavy malty (roasted, burned, coffee), moderate hoppy. Flavor moderate sweet and bitter, smooth. Medium/full body. Very fine.

Poured from a bomber and served in an English pint glass. This porter poured a dark brown with a bubbly head of dark tan foam. Some heavy, slippery lacing was left behind. The aroma of the beer was made up of sweet chocolate and caramel, fresh coffee, burnt sugars, and vanilla. Very inviting! The flavor included heavily roasted malts, strong coffee, bittersweet chocolate, vanilla, and a slightly alcoholic finish. The mouthfeel was creamy and medium-bodied with light, soft carbonation. A very tasty porter. Definately one of the best of the style.

Pours a pitch black with a medium mocha head that fades rather quickly. Aroma is chocolate and dry coffee roasts - perfect aroma for the style. Taste is about the same - perfect characteristics for the style without overdoing it. Quite the balanced porter.

Thanks to my bro for hooking this one up. Pours a deeb brown color with light off white head that fades quickly. Aroma is milk chocolate, light coffee and fruit, as well as a bit of metallic/copper taste. Taste is milk chocolate, light vanilla, sweet dough, and light coffee. Alcohol is very well hidden which gives it a very cream mouthfeel. Excellent.

Nice! Wondeful aroma with loads of dark berries and a slightly hoppy nose. Thick texture, roasted but in contrast to many other beers this dark, it has no astringency or harshness in the finish. Very complex and full of flavour, but easy to drink at the same time,
