Commercial Description:
Editor’s note: Recent canned batches of this have been brewed at Bryggeriet S.C. Fuglsang and Harboe.
The first batch of this beer destined for export to the US market was brewed at Nøgne Ø in Grimstad, Norway in 2006. Later batches have been brewed at Ølfabrikken.
Introduced at ’Fynske Øldage’ 2005.

A dark and rich porter inspired by the Baltic porters traditionally made in Scandinavia. Roasted without being burned or bitter, with the flavor dominated by dried fruits and vinous notes. High amounts of residual sugars and a fruity aroma makes this beer the perfect companion for chocolate desserts, if served lightly chilled. Brewed on Maris Otter ale malt, British Brown Malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, two types of caramel malt and brown sugar. Unpasteurized and unfiltered like all our beers of course.

First of all, way overhyped, in my opinion. Pour is nice, deep black, minimal red around the edges, big mocha head that goes away, which is disappointing. Nose is roasty and sweet. Not really a typical porter, reminds me more of an export stout with the bittersweetness and acidity. Decent, but not worth the hype.

Bottle. High creamy and lasting brown head. Black I men really black, not just pitch black, body. Powerful coffee cocoa aroma with a bit of caramel and a bit of spices. Flavor though is more bitter than indicated by the aroma. Coffee cocoa and roasted malt with a good deal of hops bitterness. Low carbonation, long coffee bitter aftertaste.

Bottle shared at Dark Lord Day 08. Pours a dark brown/black color with a tan head. Has chocolate, caramel, roasted malt, and a sweet finish. Great porter.

Appearance is dark brown with a tan head. Aroma and flavor of milk chocolate, coffee, vanilla, and licorice. Mouthfeel is silky. An enjoyable mid strength porter. The complexity is there within the imperial strength ABV.

Dark oily body underneath a thin khaki colored head. Aroma is highlighted by roasted barley, black malts, coffee, and a nice vinous quality that lies somewhat in the background. Bitter roasted malts hit the tongue upon first sip followed by a slightly tart red grape note. Layers of fresh roast coffee and bittersweet chocolate make their way into the equation later on. Finishes with a slick mouth feel and a pleasant mix of sweetness and bitter roasted flavors. Very nice porter.

20061111 Sampled at Cornboy BW meet. Roasty, coffee-ish, dry. Perfect full body. Distant astringency. Aroma is one of those I could smell all day long with beautiful mix of coffee and toasty malts plus rich dark fruits. Sticky. Great.

supermarket can at $2. 33cl. Nice coffe aroma. Black, brown solid foam. Great taste, none of the disturbing nuances you usually find in a cheap port. aftertaste is dominated by roasy notes. Tastes great. Palate is nice too, full and smooth. This is real good, and outstanding for a canned beer at $2 retal. I wonder if it has been brewed by GB or ølbryggeriet. I’ll buy some more of these.

Brown/Black with a thick foamy espresso head that quickly thins as it coats the glass. Roasted coffee bean aroma. Smokey bitter sweet chocolate, roasted coffee espresso, so smooth. Like an imperial stout without the extra alcohol but with the full body. After-taste beckons the next sip.
