Commercial Description:
Editor’s note: Recent canned batches of this have been brewed at Bryggeriet S.C. Fuglsang and Harboe.
The first batch of this beer destined for export to the US market was brewed at Nøgne Ø in Grimstad, Norway in 2006. Later batches have been brewed at Ølfabrikken.
Introduced at ’Fynske Øldage’ 2005.

A dark and rich porter inspired by the Baltic porters traditionally made in Scandinavia. Roasted without being burned or bitter, with the flavor dominated by dried fruits and vinous notes. High amounts of residual sugars and a fruity aroma makes this beer the perfect companion for chocolate desserts, if served lightly chilled. Brewed on Maris Otter ale malt, British Brown Malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, two types of caramel malt and brown sugar. Unpasteurized and unfiltered like all our beers of course.

Bottle: It poured black in color with a 1/2" head of fine brown bubbles that faded somewhat quickly. The nose immediately showed melted fudge along with caramel, expresso roast and stewed plums. In the mouth it was medium-bodied with a concentrated midpalate that fades to a dry/bitter finish. Ovearll it was quite nice but lacked punch and the finish came too quick.

Pours an awesome, oily black with a thin dark mocha head. The aroma is slightly vinous at first, but underneath is a wonderful layer of chocolate, caramel, burnt brown sugar and nicely toasted malts. The flavor is awesome. Wow. Huge, bitter dark chocolate, sweet caramel malts, burnt brown sugar, a little bit of burnt toast breadiness hidden in there too. The mouthfeel is thick, full and creamy. It really coats the mouth. Overall I must say that I’m very impressed with this beer...well worth the $9.00 price of admission.

An unreal flavor for a porter. Notes of brown sugar and melted chocolate, as well as cinnamon and sweet cloves, if there is such a thing. A very aromatic and sweet porter, the likes of which I have never tasted. This was the "Old" Olfab.

Tap. Black with a huge brown creamy head. Really complex aroma. All that you could seek in a beer like this. Plenty of fruity, caramel, roasted notes, along with the right hopping, creating a fantastic bouquet. The same must be said for flavours. Rich and complex.
