Commercial Description:
Editor’s note: Recent canned batches of this have been brewed at Bryggeriet S.C. Fuglsang and Harboe.
The first batch of this beer destined for export to the US market was brewed at Nøgne Ø in Grimstad, Norway in 2006. Later batches have been brewed at Ølfabrikken.
Introduced at ’Fynske Øldage’ 2005.

A dark and rich porter inspired by the Baltic porters traditionally made in Scandinavia. Roasted without being burned or bitter, with the flavor dominated by dried fruits and vinous notes. High amounts of residual sugars and a fruity aroma makes this beer the perfect companion for chocolate desserts, if served lightly chilled. Brewed on Maris Otter ale malt, British Brown Malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, two types of caramel malt and brown sugar. Unpasteurized and unfiltered like all our beers of course.

22oz - Aroma is a complex mix of roasted malts, chocolate, black licorice, caramel, luscious cream and dark fruits. Pours black with a medium brown head and good lacing. Flavor matches aroma with each flavor getting a turn to impress. Palate is creamy and luscious. A very nice porter.

Cremet, tung porter. Let vinøs - med masser af alt der hører en porter til...med en hård bitter finish

Bottle, sent to me in a trade by Douglas, thanks man! Pours out of the bottle a deep brown almost black with a thick and voluminous dark brown head. Really good looking beer here. Aroma is a bit sweeter than I though it would be. Dark fruits and caramel enter the nose as well as a bit of chocolate. Once I took my first sip I was then reminded that this isn’t all sweetness after all. Big roasted flavors dominate the palate. Tobacco and a slight bitterness gives way eventually to a touch of coffee and a bit of sweet of chocolate at the end. This beer is very complex, big, and bold. I give it extra props for getting the job done at 8% that most imperial stouts need 10% or higher. Still after saying this I’m sure if this really isn’t an imperial stout just labeled a porter for show. Regardless of the label or style classification, this is a great beer and I’m glad to have one more bottle of it.

Can. Black beer with a creamy head. i sense Liquorice, roasted malt and heavy in mouthfeel, a bit unbalanced but good at it’s price.

Recieved in a trade with stefanje Chocolate head that quickly fades away. The body is nice and black. The beer pours like motor oil. The smell lacks the coffee and roasted smell I was hoping for. Smells of raisins and alcohol. No smell of coffee or ash. Tastes of coffee and ash, with little bitterness. The coffee flavor actually matures. The beer tastes pretty good I’d say. The beer is nice and thick. Very smooth texture. Not my favorite porter. I wish there were sweet notes in the beer but still a nice beer. There is a nice hoppy flavor to speak of. The alcohol warms me up. Good beer

Can (!) 33 cl. Didn’t think that they would put this kind of beer on a can. But they did and it’s still almost perfect. It pours a black / dark brown substance which almost sticks to the glass. Still it’s not a foamy mouthfeel. Very good beer.
