Commercial Description:
Editor’s note: Recent canned batches of this have been brewed at Bryggeriet S.C. Fuglsang and Harboe.
The first batch of this beer destined for export to the US market was brewed at Nøgne Ø in Grimstad, Norway in 2006. Later batches have been brewed at Ølfabrikken.
Introduced at ’Fynske Øldage’ 2005.

A dark and rich porter inspired by the Baltic porters traditionally made in Scandinavia. Roasted without being burned or bitter, with the flavor dominated by dried fruits and vinous notes. High amounts of residual sugars and a fruity aroma makes this beer the perfect companion for chocolate desserts, if served lightly chilled. Brewed on Maris Otter ale malt, British Brown Malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, two types of caramel malt and brown sugar. Unpasteurized and unfiltered like all our beers of course.

Det en for meget, smagen af brændt gummi er gennemtrængende, men generelt er porter heller ikke min stærke side

Pours a deep black with a small tan head. Huge aroma of coffee and toffee. Flavor follows that up with vanilla, oak, smoke and a great roasted malt backbone. Great body and a long smooth slightly alcohol finish. Great beer. Glad Plaza had some available.

Thanks to Homerwantsbeer for sharing a bottle. The beer pours a viscous black color with a thin dark tan head that has good staying power. Thin sheet of lacing on the glass. Complex aroma of roasted malt, coffee and sweet chocolate. Rich body with a pleasing array of flavors from cocoa, coffee and chocolate to hops, berries and mild tobacco. The finish is full and satisfying with bittersweet chocolate and coffee lingering in the aftertaste. This beer walks a fine line to being an Imperial Stout and a pretty good one at that. Overall it is one of the better Porters I have had in quite some time.

Bottle. Poured a beautiful dark brown with a thick, dark tan creamy looking head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, roast, and dark fruits. Initial taste was of dark fruits (raisin, prune, fig) with a mild roasty finish. A different porter than others that I’ve had, but this one was very good. An excellent beer, make sure you have it now before the new ownership changes it.

Update 4/27/08: Huge coffee presence in this bottle, which I didn’t get before. I think this bottle was fresher than the one I had previously.

Pours near black,a little thick, with a minimal brown head. Can smell this a mile away, smoke, vanilla, deep roasted malts, wet plywood. Gritty! ...like ground up coffee beans. Really quite dry. So often with thick high gravity/abv porters/stouts they are sickeningly sweet, but this is wonderfully drinkable. This lived up to expectations. This stuff is dirty, crunchy and really fun. The deepest of roasted malts. Lots of semi-sweet cocoa.

Bottle, pours an opaque, black body with dark brown head. Delicious, rich chocolate aroma with some coffee. Complex flavor profile that starts with sweet chocolate, then roasted malts, then smoke, and finishing with coffee. Earthy, dark roasted coffee finish/aftertaste. Solid, smooth, medium to heavy mouthfeel.
