Mouthfeel and texture is incredible, smooth, creamy and rich. Chocolate flavor with some coffee, sugar, licorice and kind of roasty on the back end. Some hops towards the finish, but very mild overall. Didn’t figure it to be 8%abv. Lots of flavor in this one. Fin (3420), Merton, Oxfordshire, England
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 14, 2008 Bottle, shared with Ian having returned home from the Ratebeerian day around Oxford 09-02-08 A Big, big thanks to Ian (Harrisoni) for this beer Pours dark brown with a beige head amazing aroma of coffee and milk chocolate, oh but the taste is simply stunning, I’m looking at the rest of my notes taken after the end of a day’s drinking in Oxford and what a load of bollocks I started writing (not for the first time, I hasten to add) "I’m in St Marks Square, Vienna (think I meant Venice) looking across towards the cathedral" I’ve never been there what was I on??? Was it the coffee notes making me think this?? Anyway back to normality, It was simply stunning, silky chocolate, lovely creaminess my notes have run out it was great cheers Ian Taverner (847), San Ramon, California, USA

The aroma is sesame, chocolate, malts and smoke. Very mild presence of hops - and this is its weak spot. There isn’t as much bite as some other porters. But still this is an outstanding beer. After drinking some, the flavor turns to an almost semi-sweet chocolate flavor. joe1510 (501), Illinois, USA

Olfabrikken makes one stout porter. After glugging from the bottle to a snifter this beer appears black with no hint of light shining through. The head was a little hard to bring alive but a more aggressive pour brought about a half finger brown head with a hint of purple. The head that did form leaves some great lacing on after each drink.
The nose on this beer is without a doubt good but could stand to be a little more robust. Mil chocolate and dark berries encompass a core of moderate roasted maltiness. There’s even a touch of chocolate wafting around in there somewhere. Very appetizing.
This beer walks the line between a baltic porter and a big stout. There’s a lot more freshly roasted coffee than I expected and I’m definately glad it’s there. The coffee adds a complexity I don’t usually come across in porters and is better of because of it. The coffee just compliments the roastiness and again, like the aroma, chocolate and faint dark berries mingle in the background. This is an exceptional Baltic Porter. One of the best I’ve come across.
As this beer hits the tongue there’s a surprising zestiness from the carbonation that quickly smooths out becoming more full and rounded. There is a substantial feel midway through until the swallow. Not crazy about the livliness upfront but it quickly smooths out to become more than appropriate.
We got 10-12" of snow last this morning and this just seems like an appropriate beer for an evening like tonight. Of course I’m sure this would be just as easy to sip any other night.
Olfabrikken makes an exceptional Baltic Porter. This is by far my favorite beer from the new Scandanavin revolution hitting American shores. Big flavors and good drinkability make for a world class beer.

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 8, 2008 Bottle - thanks Secret Santa (rudolf)! Pours deep, deep black with a thick, dark brown head. The nose is very Impy-ish - heavy with roasted coffee and sweet chocolates. Thick, chewy mouthfeel. A healthy dose of smoke hits me first in the body, followed by an onslaught of roasted and sweet malt. The notes in this are insanely complex - tobacco, firewood, sweet chocolate, fresh espresso, vanilla bean, dark plum and on and on. Wow - this is fantastic. I would love to get more of this to age.
