Commercial Description:
Editor’s note: Recent canned batches of this have been brewed at Bryggeriet S.C. Fuglsang and Harboe.
The first batch of this beer destined for export to the US market was brewed at Nøgne Ø in Grimstad, Norway in 2006. Later batches have been brewed at Ølfabrikken.
Introduced at ’Fynske Øldage’ 2005.

A dark and rich porter inspired by the Baltic porters traditionally made in Scandinavia. Roasted without being burned or bitter, with the flavor dominated by dried fruits and vinous notes. High amounts of residual sugars and a fruity aroma makes this beer the perfect companion for chocolate desserts, if served lightly chilled. Brewed on Maris Otter ale malt, British Brown Malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, two types of caramel malt and brown sugar. Unpasteurized and unfiltered like all our beers of course.

500 ml bottle an opaque brownish black with a small lingering brown head. Aromas of coffee, bitter chocolate, light licorice, light vanilla and a hint of dark fruit. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth. Flavors of bitter chocolate, coffee, roastiness, light licorice and a faint hint of dark fruit with a smooth lingering roasty bitter finish.
A very tasty porter!

Bottled. At Haket, Göteborg. Very dark brown colour with pale brown head, that’s of average size. Hops and a mellow maltiness at first with darker flavours such as tar and licorice. No chocolate here. Body is rounded, with a nice mellow maltiness with residual sugars that might be a bit hard to track down because of the hop additions. Not very pronounced bitterness. Great beer!

Dark, almost black. Has a fine, beige head, mostly lasting. A very pure, clear porter, dark, roasted, chocolate, coffee aroma. Flavor starts sweet and finish heavy bitter.

One of the best porters I’ve ever had! Aroma was huge- strong coffe and chocolate. Pour was a beautiful near black with a one finger tan head that lasts the whole drink. The taste was near perfect. Strong on the chocolate with heavy coffee in an out. Bitter roasted malt stays on the back of the toungue in the aftertaste. A brilliant mix of sweet in the beginning and a bitter aftertaste. Great carbonation and a nice semi thick mouthfeel. Awesome beer.

Bottled (7,5% ABV). It pours very black and opaque with a small and fast disappearing brown foam. The aroma is very strong and coffee dominates. Much roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruits and tar are detectable. The flavour is powerful too, perhaps lightly sweeter than expected after the aroma. Again very much coffee, plus black chocolate, licorice, and some fruitiness. Also a light smokiness is detectable. Discrete bitterness from hops and above all roasted malt. Very good mouthfeel, creamy, near to full body, average carbonation, long aftertaste. This is one of the best beer I have ever tasted, the best Porter, if this is a true Porter. In fact this stuff has much resemblances to an Imperial Stout. Apart the styles, complex and fantastic.

Simply a fantastic porter. Pour is inky black, with a rich tan head. Immediate aroma of malt, coffee, chocolate, and the roasted grain. Body is very full, but not heavy, finish left behind heavy coffee ending with light chocolate. A fantastic porter that I will definitely pick up again.

Super black. Incredibly dark head, which looks great. Explosively hoppy aroma, but it’s tamed by very fudge-like rich malt characteristics with hints of crushed cookies, chocolate, roast and burnt fruits. Flavor is tremendously complex and loaded with dried fruits and perfectly roasted malts. The finish is especially impressive and seems to last well over 30 seconds. Christian is an artful brewer and I looked forward to tasting more of his beers in Copenhagen very soon!
