Commercial Description:
Editor’s note: Recent canned batches of this have been brewed at Bryggeriet S.C. Fuglsang and Harboe.
The first batch of this beer destined for export to the US market was brewed at Nøgne Ø in Grimstad, Norway in 2006. Later batches have been brewed at Ølfabrikken.
Introduced at ’Fynske Øldage’ 2005.

A dark and rich porter inspired by the Baltic porters traditionally made in Scandinavia. Roasted without being burned or bitter, with the flavor dominated by dried fruits and vinous notes. High amounts of residual sugars and a fruity aroma makes this beer the perfect companion for chocolate desserts, if served lightly chilled. Brewed on Maris Otter ale malt, British Brown Malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, two types of caramel malt and brown sugar. Unpasteurized and unfiltered like all our beers of course.

Dark black body with a creamy tan head formation. Toasty aroma at first lending to a malty sweetness of licorice and cocoa. Roasted flavor of dark malts brings thoughts of mocha coffee. Full body is ever so pleasant going down. This is yet another fantastic Scandinavian brew.

Pours pitch black with a dark brown head. Aroma is very sweet with notes of dark frruit, malts, mollasses, and bitter sweet chocolate. The flavor on this beer has notes of brown sugar, plum, malts, coffee and semi sweet chocolate. This beer is perfect and could not be any better. The best porter yet.

Dark as dark can be with a big nice brown head. Nose of dried fruit, coffee, and chocolate. Flavor is really roasted, with hints of chocolate, espresso, and spice. Full body with a hint of smoke on a nice alcohol warm finish.

500 ml. bottle, from Holiday Wine Cellar in Escondido. Pours ebony and opaque with a thin brown head that diminishes rapidly. Aroma is roasty and floral, with notes of bitter chocolate, brown sugar, ash, alcohol and herbs. Flavor is delicious, with a nice interplay between the sweet, bitter and ever so slightly sour notes of the malts, roasty with dark chocolate, prune juice, coffee, floral hops and alcohol barely detectable in the finish. Medium to full body and light carbonation. Quite porter-licious!

!muchas gracias! if you’ve sent me one of these!!!! viscous pour is nearly black and topped by a fluffy purple cappuccino colored head. aroma is very baltic like...brown sugar/molasses, cocoa, wood, charcoal, dried fruit (cherries, blueberries and raisins) and a bit of alcohol sting. flavor is packed with everything you’d want in a baltic as well... super roasted almost ashy malt, dark dried fruits, chocolate, licorice, light molasses sweetness and soy. coffee even pokes it’s head in the aftertaste. the finish is lightly acidic. full bodied. the mouth feel is past creamy (if that’s possible)... very ’tight’ carbonation when its sloshed makes it seem if it is non existent. ya’ll can keep sending me these ;-)...

Not bad. Expected a little more kick from its rating. Chocolate scent with a malty aroma as well. Beer is good but has an odd metallic/fish taste. So the finish is pleasant until the taste creeps up.
