Pours ebony and opaque with a thin brown head that diminishes rapidly. Aroma is roasty and floral, with notes of bitter chocolate, brown sugar, ash, alcohol and herbs. Flavor is delicious, with a nice interplay between the sweet, bitter and ever so slightly sour notes of the malts, roasty with dark chocolate, prune juice, coffee, floral hops and alcohol barely detectable in the finish. Medium to full body and light carbonation. Quite porter-licious! hellbilly (1532), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 6, 2008 Not bad. Expected a little more kick from its rating. Chocolate scent with a malty aroma as well. Beer is good but has an odd metallic/fish taste. So the finish is pleasant until the taste creeps up. douglas88 (1631), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

Pours a dark swirling black with a nice brown head. The aroma is mostly smoke and wood, with some brown sugar perhaps. The taste is quite smooth; dark chocolates, rich roasted malts, some brown sugar and hints of dark fruit. A really great porter, top notch! Well made and complex, yet easy to drink. 5000 (2455), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 1, 2008 Bottle: This is by far the blackest Porter I have come across, darker than most Stouts.   Head is large and frothy, of a light
brown beige variety.   Lacing is quite nice.   Had I been served this without knowing what it was I would think it would be an
Imperial Stout.   Minor alcohol nose, otherwise subtle graham cracker, a little bit of cocoa, some coffee, with an underlying hop bite.
Fairly roasty on the tongue, dry cocoa, moderate bitterness.   This is a hefty Porter!   Full bodied, moderate mouthfeel,
somewhat silky.   Finishes with a big combination of roasted malts, bittersweet cocoa, coffee beans, and a earthy hop bitterness.
Very enjoyable, a little bigger than expected too.   Recommended!

This is one amazing beer. Ridiculous amount of chocolate and smoky roasted malt in both the aroma and taste of this remarkable beer. I’m actually kicking my own ass right now for not picking up more than one bomber of this. The perfect porter here.... Blisscent (75), East Providence, Rhode Island, USA

The result is an ultra smooth pleasure with a dessert aftertaste. More malt would make this a true treasure. Nevertheless, get it and enjoy every sip. csbosox (1082), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Dec 30, 2007 #800 Served in a stem glass a few minutes out of the cellar at around 55°. Rich chocolate, lactose, light roast, light woodsiness, and dark fruits in the aroma. Color is pretty darn close to black with a small espresso colored head. Intial taste is all sweet malt, dark and milk chocolate followed by some roast and acidity that helps clean up and the malt. Huge body, not too far from Expedition. The finish is roast, dark fruits, bakers chocolate and a lingering astringency (not too anstringent) that makes it drinkable. This is a mighty fine beer.
