Commercial Description:
Editor’s note: Recent canned batches of this have been brewed at Bryggeriet S.C. Fuglsang and Harboe.
The first batch of this beer destined for export to the US market was brewed at Nøgne Ø in Grimstad, Norway in 2006. Later batches have been brewed at Ølfabrikken.
Introduced at ’Fynske Øldage’ 2005.

A dark and rich porter inspired by the Baltic porters traditionally made in Scandinavia. Roasted without being burned or bitter, with the flavor dominated by dried fruits and vinous notes. High amounts of residual sugars and a fruity aroma makes this beer the perfect companion for chocolate desserts, if served lightly chilled. Brewed on Maris Otter ale malt, British Brown Malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, two types of caramel malt and brown sugar. Unpasteurized and unfiltered like all our beers of course.

Bottle. Aroma of coffe, oil and roasted barley. Appearance - near black, with a small head that quickly subsides. Flavour is what you would expect from a porter - roasted with rich dried fruit notes. Palate is utterly silky and wonderful. A very nice porter.

Bottle. Pours a dark black color with a dark tan colored head on top. Aroma is dark fruits, chocolate covered cherries, caramel, brown sugar, and fresh roasted coffee. Flavor is a nice mixture of dark chocolate covered fruit and coffee. Bittersweet is a nice description of the flavor and palate of the beer. Not overbearing on either side. A very full-bodied beer but one of the most well-balanced ones out there.

This beer is more full and complex than a lot of imperial stouts claim to be. Pours a very dark brown almost black with a nice frothy beige head that quickly dissipates into a nice lacing that lasts. Aroma of dark fruits like raisin, plum and black cherries. The 8% abv is very well masked resulting in a very smooth tasting beer with a roasted maltiness that has hints of dark chocolate, coffee, dark fruit and sugar cane. Slightly sweet dry finish. Excellent!

Bottle with date stamp 200709. A sweet chocolate arooma on the nose. Black body with dark chocolate head and some decent lacing. Rich mild roasted chocolate flavor with a mild carbination in the mix. Smooth on the palate and the sweetness lhas a lingering aftertaste.

50 cl bottle, brewed and bottled at Nøgne Ø. Black color, creamy brown head. It´s the best and most balanced porter I´ve tasted. Just amazing.

Bottle. Heavy malt smell of burnt, coffee, and dark bread, moderate perfume for the hops, light earth for the yeast, and light notes of dark rum, cola, fruitcake and alcohol. Head starts frothy and dark brown then settles to creamy/bubbly and off-white, it has good lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is black and the body coats the glass well. Flavor starts lightly sweet and acidic, then finishes moderately acidic and lightly bittersweet. Palate is medium to full, creamy and has a soft carbonation. Full of some of the most deepest tastes and aromas, and has the best mouthfeel of any porter I’ve had.

European edition from Degarth. Thanks Joe. This is a simply marvelous beer. The appearance as lost on me as I found myself swirling and sniffing. Devine aromas of Belgian Chocolates, sorry Hersey, fresh roasted coffe beans. This was a real treat. I took my time a let every drop cross my taste buds. Wow.
