Commercial Description:
Editor’s note: Recent canned batches of this have been brewed at Bryggeriet S.C. Fuglsang and Harboe.
The first batch of this beer destined for export to the US market was brewed at Nøgne Ø in Grimstad, Norway in 2006. Later batches have been brewed at Ølfabrikken.
Introduced at ’Fynske Øldage’ 2005.

A dark and rich porter inspired by the Baltic porters traditionally made in Scandinavia. Roasted without being burned or bitter, with the flavor dominated by dried fruits and vinous notes. High amounts of residual sugars and a fruity aroma makes this beer the perfect companion for chocolate desserts, if served lightly chilled. Brewed on Maris Otter ale malt, British Brown Malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, two types of caramel malt and brown sugar. Unpasteurized and unfiltered like all our beers of course.

Black color with thick dark tan big bubble head. Staight forward and overpowering malt aroma of roasted chocolate and roasted coffee. Substantial amount of hops in this but the sweetness, and malt dominate. A little smoky. Full bodied is an understatement, more like syrup.

Very black, very brown head. Relatively small head that slowly but completely disappeared after awhile. Alcohol is quite strong in the aroma. Also, a hint of cherry in the aroma that, combined with the alcohol smell, gave a wine like character. Taste is good, but somewhat muted and overwhelmed by the alcohol. Excellent finish with a delicious residual malt flavor that sits around the front edge of the tongue. Smooth mouthfeel.

16.9oz. bottle into pint glass. Been trying to get this stuff for a long time. It was well worth the wait! Pours a deep black with a beautiful dark red head that laces nicely. Heavy aromas of campfire smoke, roasted malts, caramel and coffee. Flavor is of coffee, simi-sweet chocolate, smoke, toffee and a hint of fruit. Mouthfeel is thick and chewy. Easily the BEST porter I have ever had. Wonderful stuff.

16.9 oz bottle from Holiday Wne Cellar: Pure black color with a dark chocolate cocoa head. Aroma is dark chocolate, coffee and smoke with a wiff of alcohol. Flavor starts semi-sweet dark chocolate followed by a little coffee and some nuttiness finishing lightly bitter with just a hint of sweet black licorice. Medium-full body is smooth and creamy with soft carbonation. An awesome brew.

Bottle 50 cl. Brown/black, brown head that’s mostly disappearing. Full body with an oily, thick feel. Aroma of leather, smoke, coffee and dark chocolate. Bitter burnt finish. The porter is rich and full bodied and very enjoyable.

Thick oil black pour with a minimal dark brown head. Chocolate malt, vanilla extract aroma. Taste is roasted barley, chocolate malt, dark fruit and hint of coffee and tobacco. Really nice dry finish with a hint of coffee on the back of the tongue. Very well balanced and easy drinking. Be careful of the sneaky alcohol. Easily the best porter I have ever had.
