Commercial Description:
Editor’s note: Recent canned batches of this have been brewed at Bryggeriet S.C. Fuglsang and Harboe.
The first batch of this beer destined for export to the US market was brewed at Nøgne Ø in Grimstad, Norway in 2006. Later batches have been brewed at Ølfabrikken.
Introduced at ’Fynske Øldage’ 2005.

A dark and rich porter inspired by the Baltic porters traditionally made in Scandinavia. Roasted without being burned or bitter, with the flavor dominated by dried fruits and vinous notes. High amounts of residual sugars and a fruity aroma makes this beer the perfect companion for chocolate desserts, if served lightly chilled. Brewed on Maris Otter ale malt, British Brown Malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, two types of caramel malt and brown sugar. Unpasteurized and unfiltered like all our beers of course.

16.9 oz bottle from Holiday Wne Cellar: Pure black color with a dark chocolate cocoa head. Aroma is dark chocolate, coffee and smoke with a wiff of alcohol. Flavor starts semi-sweet dark chocolate followed by a little coffee and some nuttiness finishing lightly bitter with just a hint of sweet black licorice. Medium-full body is smooth and creamy with soft carbonation. An awesome brew.

Bottle 50 cl. Brown/black, brown head that’s mostly disappearing. Full body with an oily, thick feel. Aroma of leather, smoke, coffee and dark chocolate. Bitter burnt finish. The porter is rich and full bodied and very enjoyable.

Thick oil black pour with a minimal dark brown head. Chocolate malt, vanilla extract aroma. Taste is roasted barley, chocolate malt, dark fruit and hint of coffee and tobacco. Really nice dry finish with a hint of coffee on the back of the tongue. Very well balanced and easy drinking. Be careful of the sneaky alcohol. Easily the best porter I have ever had.

Bottle was a gift from WeeHeavySD, thank you! Opaque black appearance with a dark brown head. Aroma is malty and rich. Taste of smoke, malt, and coffee. Full body and nice acidity. Fantastic porter.

Bottle of joy: Poured a deep dark black reminded me of road crew work, with a creamy brown head. The aroma was deep rich dark fruit with roasted malt. The flavor is bitter fruit at first but leads directly into that rich roasted malt taste. Its worth every point of the rating.

Extremely dark with a quickly fleeting brown head. Slightly hopped, very roasty aroma with a bit of citrus and a little bit of licorice on the end. Very full bodied roasted flavor with an aftertaste of roasted chocolaty flavor.
