| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Sep 30, 2007 Pours jet black into the snifter with a half inch of dark tan head. The head calmed down quickly but returned after a quick swirl. There was minimal lacing if any. The scent was of roasted malt, oatmeal, nuts and some brown sugar. Very thick and inky feel on the palate with malt, chocoate and roasted barley dominating. Perfect coating feeling on the palate. This sets the standard for other porters to live up to. craftbeerdesign (755), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA

Pours a rich, dense motor oil. Appears dark brown, with auburn toned, copper edges. A thick, 2 finger dark tan head slowly fades into a mild cap and a hefty collar. Scattered streaks and spots of lacing sticks around before slowly drooping down into the outer ring of the brew.
Smell is of roasted nuts, toasted grains, caramel, vanilla, dark chocolate, cocoa nibs, pencil shavings, and a touch of freshly ground coffee.
Taste is of the mentioned aromas in a beautifully mixed flavor with notes of black grapes and notes of ripe guava. Yes, sir!
Mouthfeel is full bodied, sugary, rich, and boozy with sweetness hitting up front that draws into a chewy, mildly earthy, woodsy bitterness with a boozy bite. footy (334), scottsdale, Arizona, USA
