Commercial Description:
Editor’s note: Recent canned batches of this have been brewed at Bryggeriet S.C. Fuglsang and Harboe.
The first batch of this beer destined for export to the US market was brewed at Nøgne Ø in Grimstad, Norway in 2006. Later batches have been brewed at Ølfabrikken.
Introduced at ’Fynske Øldage’ 2005.

A dark and rich porter inspired by the Baltic porters traditionally made in Scandinavia. Roasted without being burned or bitter, with the flavor dominated by dried fruits and vinous notes. High amounts of residual sugars and a fruity aroma makes this beer the perfect companion for chocolate desserts, if served lightly chilled. Brewed on Maris Otter ale malt, British Brown Malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, two types of caramel malt and brown sugar. Unpasteurized and unfiltered like all our beers of course.

A black beer with a nice brown head. The aroma is sweet roasted combined with notes of caramel and hints of alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of chocolate, coffee, wood, and nuts, as well as hints of tar. The mouthfeel is very creamy and slightly sticky.

(On tap) Pitch black with a small, creamy, light brown head. Very roasted/burned aroma. Quite full-bodied, with notes of burned malt leaving a dry bitterness. Underlying sweetness, but rounded and very smooth. Very classical Porter of superior quality. 281005

[Draught at Købehavnske Øldage] Dark black, creamy head. Rich coffee aroma. Dryish and smooth. Tar competes with coffee for domination. Solidly malty, but towards the finish it turnsh somewhat harsh and inky. In my opinion Ølfabrikken makes other beers that are far better.

50 cL botte (batch 191). Pours black/deep brown with a thick chocolate head. Nice liqourice chocolate roasted malt and slight smoked aroma, classic with a slight orange feel. Flavour is heavy on all notes, classic Ølfabrikken to have a heavy bitterness into the finish. Before that chocolate, slight liqourice and roasted malt notes with a whiff of wineous dried fruits make out a great porter brew, very classic but just much more powerfull than other baltic porters around. Great brew that keeps lingering long after the last sip.

From 50 cl bottle brewed at Nøgne Ø for dist. with the Shelton Brothers. Distinct dark horizon aroma initially. Aroma is chalky, light smoked. Light fruity flavour. Domininantly smoked flavour. Ends lingering dry malty and smoked finish.8-4-8-4-17=4.1
