Black color, with dark head. Aroma very hops, caramel, roasted malt, chocolate. Taste roasted malts, sweet.
hillfiiiiire (239), Atoka, Tennessee, USA Nov 27, 2008 This stuff is good. Pours black with a really nice tan head. Aroma is roasted malts, lots of sugar, and chocolate. Flavor is smoky and almost a little grainy. Lots of sweet caramel and chocolate too though. Finishes quite dry with slightly acidic malt hint. Quite tasty brew, but definitely a sipper. DrDavid (473), Johnson, Vermont, USA Nov 27, 2008 (Bottle). Sweet caramel chocolate aroma. Black body, small brown head. Flavor is malty, sweet fruit, coffee, caramel and chocolate, also with a lot of roastedness. Finish is roasty and somewhat bitter. Complex and powerful. DSG (997), Yuvalim, Israel Nov 27, 2008 Updated: Nov 29, 2008(10/11/08) Bottle drank in my hostel room in Chicago. Opaque black with medium bubbly light-brown head that falls rather quick. Aroma of heavily roasted malt, a bit chocolate, light smokiness, some ground coffee notes and a bit of alcohol. Sweet roasty flavor with light herbal notes, some fruitiness, a bit of nutty notes, some coffee, acidic malt hints and some alcohol. Finishes dry. Good but not as good as I was hoping. chicagodri (634), Chicago, Illinois, USA Nov 27, 2008 I am not a huge fan of porters, but damn, this is one fine beer and worth a try. Pours a very dark brown with a tan head. Aroma and flavor of roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruit, and some coffee. Very smooth, I am going to have to buy another bottle to have around. sebletitje (579), Tampa, Florida, USA Nov 27, 2008 amazing beer, hard to believe that it fits into the porter category.
8% abv.
Pours black with brownish head.
Aroma of extreme nice roastiness and chocolate.
Taste is roasted coffee, with grainy oats and chocolate. Loaded with some nice malts. A little on the strong side for a porter, but highly enjoyable quaff.
