Ernest (4250), Boulder, Colorado, USA Sep 7, 2007 Bottle. No head (still). Body is clear medium reddish-purple. Aroma is notes of black cherry (ironically I just had Brown Cow black cherry fruit-on-the-bottom yogurt today so that specific fruit is really fresh in my mind...and this is a genuine black cherry odor), alcohol, light note of honey. Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic. Finish is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic. Medium body, syrupy texture, flat carbonation, moderately alcoholic. Good fruit character but my problem with it is it clobbers any other aromas that might be hiding in there. Alcohol seems to be clean. Eye-catching color. Quite syrupy-sweet, with less acidity than expected/desired. Ok, but definitely needs more restraint wrt the fruit...they may as well have just made a cherry wine rather than a mead.
