The aroma is sweet and rather hoppy. The flavor has a delicious fresh light citrus note on a crisp malt background, leading to an end with a good bitterness, but the body is a bit thin. Golden amber color, nice head and lacing. Nose of fruity musky rot, bright hops and a bit of sweet caramel. The flavor is fairly bland, typical hoppy bitterness and malt. Finishes tinny, a bit more funky. Infected? hopscotch (5507), Vero Beach, Florida, USA

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Sep 6, 2005 Bitter, yet mild. Hoppy, but malty. This is a great bitter for anyone not seeking an ESB, but a real best. FYI, this is the same beer that Bertha’s sells as Bertha’s Best Bitter. guzzler67 (1283), Hanover, Maryland, USA

Slightly hazy, bronze appearance with a small, but lasting, head that left a lot of lacing. Smooth, malty, modestly hopped taste. Reserved aroma, more fruity and flowery than hoppy. Medium-bodied with little carbonation. Mild, bitter, dry finish. My favorite domestic bitter so far. Consistently well made; an excellent session beer.
