Rich head and pleasant bitterness accentuated by correct serving temperature and dispensing by hand-pump. Nice amber color and smooth finish. spicedad2 (78), Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania, USA

It's a well balanced English style ale which has the perfect amount of carbonation for the style and a great color. LordHedgehog (144), Westminster, Maryland, USA

This is a great bitter for anyone not seeking an ESB, but a real best. FYI, this is the same beer that Bertha’s sells as Bertha’s Best Bitter. guzzler67 (1281), Hanover, Maryland, USA

Slightly hazy, bronze appearance with a small, but lasting, head that left a lot of lacing. Smooth, malty, modestly hopped taste. Reserved aroma, more fruity and flowery than hoppy. Medium-bodied with little carbonation. Mild, bitter, dry finish. My favorite domestic bitter so far. Consistently well made; an excellent session beer. kramer (2465), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 2, 2009 On handpull @ Wharf Rat. Pours a slightly hazy amber with a one finger foamy beige head. Nice light hoppy nose with lots of biscuity and toasted malt and a bit of fruitiness. Nice smooth light flavor, biscuity malt with just a little yeasty fruitiness and a hint of English hops. Mouthfeel is light bodied and smooth with great cask conditioned softness. An pretty darn good bitter, especially when on the handpull. urbnhautebourg (974), Annapolis, Maryland, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 20, 2002 Updated: Jul 18, 2003I routinely get this one at its source in Baltimore, dispensed from the handpump. Very fruity English ale with wonderfully balanced hops, less bitter than similarly fruity American West Coast ales. Along with Three Floyd's Mild, one of my favorite session ales. obxdude10 (1559), Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA

Coppery body with a small creamy head that stands the test of time (usually). Could be a little more bitter, (I’m a bitterness freak) but I really can’t hold that against it. This is a very nice tasting, drinkable bitter. Strong on the fruity character up front. Nice crisp finish.
