Gentlier, both in terms of alcohol and flavor intensity, than most beers of the style. Mild yet tasty... Mostly malty with hints of hops. A good variety of flavors, but all mild and subdued compared to some of the wildier beers. A good ale to drink with lunch, or to introduce a friend to the world beyond lager.

On draught in June, 2005. Nice creamy head; copper color. Nice hop aroma with some sweetness; yeasty aroma. The flavor was not what I expected: some bitterness, not much Belgian/French yeast flavor. There is some roastiness and sweetness.

Delicious beer. Very sweet and malty, though it is well balanced. One of my first in the style, but I enjoyed it.

Quite nice. Dark red pour with a good toffee malt nose. Slight carbonation with a very complex and slightly sweet malt.

Excellent beer! Had a cola brown color, with nice white foamy head. Flavor had a great balance of maltiness and hops, with a colorful sweetness(can’t put my finger on what type of sweetness). Another winner from Oliver!

Earthy, malty aroma. Appearance was a dark bronze with a small head. Roasted malt taste with some sweetness paired with a nice bit of fruitiness. Medium-bodied with a malty, well rounded flavor.

A brown beer with a nice toffee head. Wonderfully smooth, sweet, nutty and malty at the same time, with just the right level of hoppiness.
