urbnhautebourg (931), Annapolis, Maryland, USA Jun 22, 2004 THis is the brewery’s take on Old Peculiar. Chewy. Big. Not very interesting. I’ve never been a huge fan of Old Peculiar either. argo0 (6019), Washington DC, USA May 1, 2004 Clear garnet with beige head. Aroma is medium sweet, earthy, floral. Taste is mild sweet, earthy with medium bitterness, caramel, light vinous alcohol. Finish is medium bitter and somewhat sour. Medium body, medium-high carbonation. guzzler67 (1125), Hanover, Maryland, USA Feb 2, 2004 Dark, reddish brown appearance with a small head. Nose was fruity(thinking red, like grapes and plums). Not as hoppy as their Winter Warmer; this has a more pronounced sweet malt taste. Nicely carbonated with a good, medium bodied mouthfeel. Braudog (3461), Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates Jun 13, 2003 This is a very black ale with a toffee head. There's a strange acidic overtone with a bitingly bitter flavor, not at all pleasant. Mediciney. Not recommended. dmaltese (2), Gainesville, Florida, USA does not count Mar 27, 2003 Very enjoyable english ale though not remarkable. A solid example of the style, appearance and aroma seem to be its strong point. Sometimes seems that flavor is hindered by coldish serving temperature, probably because it is contrasted to their cellar temp hand-pulled beers. worth a shot.
