mcbackus (640), Merritt Island, Florida, USA Sep 28, 2007 draught wharf rat @ camden yards:
pours a light crimson brown with a 1 finger froathey off white head. aroma of roast and chocolate, some toffee malt. nothing super overpowering, but pleasant. flavour is a burst of chocolate and sweet malt, some wonderful roast in the middle palate then finishes bitter and smooth. Aurelius (2469), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Dec 9, 2006 Dark walnut brown with a red tinge. Light, pruney aroma. Perhaps the slight smoke aroma is coming from the beer, perhaps the cigarettes of the patrons. Smooth, moderate fruit, light cocoa, nice acid/chalk balance. Not sweet. Finishes off with a coffeeish bitterness. Medium light body without going watery. Quitey good, very true to style. Licorice notes. Ungstrup (11136), Frederiksberg, Denmark Nov 19, 2006 A mahagony colored beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of muscat nuts, fruits, and other nuts. The flavor is sweet with primary notes of toffee, but also light notes of citrus and fresh hops. It prickles the tongue lightly. BückDich (4540), Boise, Idaho, USA Oct 3, 2006 Draught @ The Wharf Rat in Baltimore
Brown color, nice head and lacing. Nose of light dark malts, caramel, nuts, no hops. The flavor is smooth, creamy and a bit of toast. Fairly boring and rich though. dolemike1 (1105), Owings Mills, Maryland, USA Jul 24, 2006 Draft: aroma, caramel, roasted malts, hint of hops, flavor is nutty, lightly earthy , light caramel, finish is mild, lightly hoppy.
