| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 20, 2009 Sampled on tap at the brewery. Pours a clear orangey copper with a thin ecru head. Grapefruit and caramel on the nose, some resinous pine notes as well. Flavor is big on crystal malt and caramel, with a lightly resinous citric hop note to balance. Tastes like a regular hoppy red, not like an 8% imperial red. Still, that’s better than the other two OJ’s beers I had this night, which tasted more like beer-flavored tonic. Drinkable if only for the fact that it has decent balance. Still just an okay beer. alexanderj (2280), Chino Hills, California, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 22, 2009 Pours a transparent dark orange amber with a well-lacing froth of light tan head. Sweet caramely malty nose has some fresh grapefruity hoppy notes. Starts with good fullness and sweet caramely malts pretty well-balanced with a more aggressive resiny citrusy hop kick before a slightly warming finish. A pretty good imperial red. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 13, 2008 Draught at the brewpub. This beer pours a clear dark amber color with a thin beige head that has decent retention. Spotty lacing. Aroma of roasted malt and some hops. Light to medium body with a moderately malty character, and notes of hops and pine. The finish is roasty with a lingering malty aftertaste. Decent overall. Charlzm (247), Los Angeles, California, USA

Plenty of carbonation even 20 minutes after taster served. Piney hop aroma. Big malt flavor upfront. Some sweetness... and there are the grapefruit hops we knew would come (with accompanying bitterness). Well balanced and flavorful. Good job. jcwattsrugger (5573), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 4, 2007 Aroma is mostly a strong citrus hop presence. Appearance is dark red with a small head. Flavor to me was mostly a hoppy burst followed by lots of alcohol for this precentage. The body was also relativey weak. Wattery actually. Hop biite and alcohol on the palate. Not bad but not good like most of their beers.
